Hi, OOS applicant here and wondering if UMich is a school worth applying to. Here is some general info.

GPA UW: 3.7
GPA W: 4.13

SAT I: 1570/1600
SAT II: USH - 780, M2 - 770, PHYS 750

CLASS RANK: 19/390 (High ranked CA hs)

ECs:

  • leadership roles in DECA/FBLA
  • CSF + Interact
  • Varsity soccer/track
  • usual community service stuff to fulfill csf

my ec’s are pretty regular but I have been pretty consistent with them cuz I only did stuff I genuinely liked

Yeah it is! It’s probably a match for your stats, but make sure you can afford the OOS tuition!

Your test score is fine, but your uwGPA is low (3.87 average for admission). How is your class rank? You may want to check the Naviance data from your school. It is hard to be a match for OOS students due to the low admission rate.

I disagree with @DurejaVu that it is a match - your test score looks good, but your GPA is lower than the admission average. Let’s not forget California is one of the hardest states (along with NJ, NY, Ohio, MA) to gain admission from. Michigan would be a reach.

Is it worth applying to, however? Definitely.
