Chance me for UNC - Applying EA 2014-2015 :)

Hi! I am from Wilmington, NC and would love to attend UNC. I am very nervous about my application decision, and would like to hear any thought you have.

Personal: I am an in-state white male, no UNC legacy or donors or anything like that. I attend a very good high school that is well-recognized within the state and region.

Hook: (mini-hook) I attended NC Governor's School this summer, and have been told it increases chances of UNC admission

School Academic: This is where I am most worried! My unweighted GPA is currently a 3.6 UW and 4.6 W. I did not have a good freshman year, and my sophomore year was ok... but my junior year was amazing! For example, year by year...
Freshman: 3.375 UW, 4.0 W
Sophomore: 3.5 UW, 4.25 W
Junior: 3.9 UW, 5.33 W
Of course, they average all of that to get 3.6 UW and 4.6 W. But I wanted to make it clear that those were on an upward trend. I am also dually-enrolled at UNC-Wilmington for junior and senior years.

Standardized Tests: I have taken the SATs once without studying, and got an 1880. Ok. I am retaking them again at the earliest possible chance and studying with a Princeton Review Prep course, so I am hoping to break 2000.

Activities: Amazing, by far the strongest part of my application. I attended Governor's School, am a member of the Wilmington Symphony (local professional orchestra), Co-Captain of the Varsity Tennis Team, President of Spanish Club, Founder of Debate Club, Rotary Youth Leadership Member

Teacher Recommendations: Will be extremely strong. One of these teachers told me I was her favorite student in 20 years of teaching, so I am not worried about these.

Essays: I am a strong writer, so these will be excellent.

OK thanks for reading all of that!! So my question... Are my excellent activities and essays enough to counterbalance my weaker test scores and GPA? As of now I am expected to be waitlisted. Thanks!

Being a public school, UNC is extremely objective. On that note, if you improve on your SAT, your application seems very promising.

Bump
I forgot to add, I am in Beta Club, National Honors Society, and National English Honors Society.

New SAT score! 1980.

I think you’ve probably got a good chance as you’re instate with in-range test scores; however, your GPA seems a bit low, but the upward trend’s very good. Match.
