Chance me for UNC, please.

Hey guys

I've been lurking on this website for a while now and I just discovered today that they have college-specific forums. That's cool. Anyway, I'm obviously very interested in attending UNC. I posted a chance thread in the "What are my chances?" forum, which did not receive much attention, so I figured that maybe a few of you here in the same worried boat as me will want to provide me with some insight. Of course, I've already applied (second deadline), so it's not like I can take it back, I'm just curious to see how good you all think I should feel. Here's what I posted in my original thread:

"My dream college is UNC. I've wanted to go there since I was little, and since my parents both went there, I have strong ties to the university. Although, I've already been accepted to NC State as a backup.

I've made straight As for the past two years (junior and senior), and I've only made a couple of Bs in silly freshman classes. My class rank is underwhelming because of that, so I'm only 20 of about 400 in my class. My weighted GPA is 4.5. My SAT is 1910, with a Math and Critical Reading combined score of 1330. My ACT composite is 30. I'll have taken 7 AP classes by the time I graduate. So far, I have 5s on my Chemistry and Calculus BC AP exams with a Calc AB subscore of 4. I'm an Eagle Scout, and while in Scouts I served as my Troop's Instructor and Chaplain's Aide for over two years. I've been a member of my school's varsity lacrosse team for four years. I'm Parliamentarian of my school's chapter of National Honor Society and I was a part of Beta Club as a junior. I'm involved in my church's youth group. For work experience, I started my own landscaping/handyman business where I had to advertise myself and deal with clients directly and professionally. I have sundry service activities and stuff that I've accumulated over the years as well. My recs are closer to good than they are to bad and I'm very confident that I've written good essays that will stand out and make an impression. I've made A honor roll every year in high school. I'm interested in majoring in Journalism at UNC, and I've had articles and photos of mine published. I spend a lot of time working on photography. My current schedule includes 4 AP classes and 3 honors classes, of which I am currently holding high As in.

As I said before, my parents both attended the university, and I also live in state. I reckon that I have an ok chance with some decent essays. I still don't feel great about it. Do I have a shot?"

Eh?

Shoo-in. Seriously. Not only do you have strong stats and grades and stellar ECs; you also write EXTREMELY well. If your essays reflect your writing ability, then…well, IMHO, it’s a no-brainer.

I’m no expert, believe me, so take it from whence it comes. But, personally, I find it refreshing to see a young person write as well as you do. It gives me hope for the next generation, LOL.

Oh, and the legacy thing doesn’t hurt, either. :)

Thanks! Also, bumping.
