What are my chances of getting into UNC Chapel Hill?

<p>Hey guys, if you have the time could you let me know a guess of whether you think I'm going to get in? I applied regular decision and I'm in state.</p>

<p>White Male
In state, regular admissions
Class rank 16/186 (top 10%)
SAT: 640 writing (essay score 10), 690 verbal, 700 mathematics
Other tests: 4 on AP US History, 4 on Language and Composition</p>

<p>GPA: Unweighted 4.0 scale = 3.49 weighted 6.0 scale = 4.37</p>

<p>Classes: 6 classes all 4 years, 4 honors my 9th and 10th grade year, 3 honors and 2 AP 11th, 1 honors and 3 AP this senior year.</p>

<p>EC: ran varsity cross country 10th, 11th, 12th grade ---> captain this year.
varsity track - 10th grade
varsity Tennis - 11th and 12th grade
varsity swimming - 11th grade
environmental club - 9, 10, 11, 12
quizbowl team - 11, 12
mock trial - 12
national honor society - 12
french honor society - 12
monogram club - 11, 12
American field services - 11</p>

<p>I was in the Boy Scouts all 4 years and have attained the highest rank of Eagle scout.</p>

<p>I feel like my short and long essay would be at least a 6-7/10, if not slightly better. I'm not the best writer, but I am competent and I feel like they were well thought out and written.</p>

<p>And I have heard someone say they often consider you slightly more if you had 'lesser' parents as in some cases this may mean you worked harder on your own. If that's true, know that my parents never had a prayer of going to college! My work was beyond them by about the 9th grade haha... but they're still wonderful parents :)</p>

<p>I don't know the instate stats, but you can look those up...</p>

<p>GPA is really low (I would imagine) for the applicant pool which will hurt you. Your SAT's aren't that great either, but you have a good class rank, so that is positive</p>

<p>I've heard being an Eagle Scout is a huge plus in the admissions process, one person compared it to starting a business because only 1% of the people who start out are dedicated enough to get Eagle Scout status. So congrats!</p>

<p>Your EC's look good, it's really a toss up. Good luck! 50/50 chance..</p>

<p>Thank you for replying. Do you know what I might have success searching in google or another engine with? I tried "UNC chapel hill in state admissions" and "UNC chapel hill gpa" and a few others but I can't find anything but information for the law school.</p>
