I posted a similar thread in the UF forum but thought I might as well ask here too.
I’m a high school junior in Florida who will be applying to UF next year with the following stats:
UF/ Weighted GPA: 4.05
Unweighted GPA: 3.4
SAT score: 2050 (R:710 M: 670 W: 670)
I have a pretty noticeable upward trend in grades with my unweighted GPA looking something like this over the years:
Freshman: 3.0
Softmore: 3.3
Junior: 4.0
And my class rigor going up as well:
Freshman: All(5) regular
Softmore: 4 honors, 1 AP
Junior: 3 AP, 2 honor
Junior year summer: 2 DE
Senior year: 5 AP’s
My EC are okay but probably my weakest point:
Starting a club next year with a friends that will probably have somewhere between 60-100 members.
Currently in 3 clubs and planning on joining 3 more next year
About 300 hours of community service
Thanks for reading and I would really appreciate it if someone knowledgeable with UF admissions could chance me, have a nice day!
Will you be taking FLVS classes to add to your GPA?
The upward trend is noticeable, but UF has become more and more selective
these past few years, and to be even within consideration you’d need a 4.1 weighted…
Is that SAT score a predicted score or a real score? Do you plan on retaking it?
That 3.4 unweighted is a strong factor holding you back. But, you have a decent weighted GPA, and universities generally care more about grades in your junior and senior year anyway. So I’d say you stand a pretty good chance.
I’m already taking two DE courses this summer for that purpose, SAT score is real and I am retaking in October of next year( will probably improve by 50-100 points ). My GPA is far from competitive for UF but I am hoping my test scores make up for that. I’m also fairly confident I will pass all of AP courses if that has any weight in the admission process.
I might be able to fit in another dual enrollment class this summer which would bump up my GPA to a 4.13 but I’m not sure if 3 DE classes is too much coursework ( I also need to do about 200 more hours of community service this summer as I only have 100 )
Yes, 3 DE summer classes at the same time would be impossible. If you can do Summer A:1, Summer B:2 (or the reverse), you could, but not together.
Another idea, perhaps easier to handle:
2 DE classes, plus one FLVS class- you’ll be able to complete the class in your own time, you can start when school is over, and continue throughout the summer, giving yourself 2 weeks entirely off at the end.
