Hey, guys I am new to this website.
Chance me please?
W gpa:3.8(should be 4.0 after 1st semester senior year)
ACT: 32( retaking, should be 34 or 35)
semi-competitive private school in CA
Hardest courseload possible (you have to apply and be accepted into AP and honors classes)

Sorry I know this info is kind of vague, just ask me if you want to know more.

bump. anyone?

What is your UWGPA?

Assuming and UW GPA of 3.5 my guesses are:

USC high match/low reach
Your GPA is below average but you have a strong ACT. An unknown is the possible increase in applications to USC this fall given their switch to the CommonAp. Likely the admit rate will fall to 20%.

http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/1011/FreshmanProfile2010.pdf

UCLA - same as USC. Without more detail (eg, class rank) it’s hard to guess

Occidental - Higher admit rate so more of a match situation.

My school doesn’t rank but I assume I’m in the top 20%. My UW GPA is 3.4.

bump. anyone else?

come on people…170 views? would really appreciate it

bump por favor senores

might as well…bump

I felt bad for you so I thought I’d add my two cents as the parent of a 2011 USC grad. USC is getting more competitive as it rises in rankings. She claims she wouldn’t get accepted to USC today but I’m doubtful. She got accepted to Berkeley but not UCLA. She had ACT 32 and SAT 2140, GPA 3.9ish, 8 APs with 4s and 5s and nothing remarkable in the way of ECs. She was OOS. But as I told her when she was applying to schools, and I’m telling the same thing to my younger child now, you don’t know unless you try. I recall reading an article years ago by a college admissions committee member from a highly selective school who admitted that there is no science to the admissions process, there is a lot of subjectivity involved and as many people say, it is largely a crapshoot. The chances threads on here amuse me - what credentials or expertise do the people responding have? These threads only serve to stress kids out. I’m glad we didn’t even know this site existed when my daughter was applying. There is a lot of useful info here, but much of it should be taken with a grain of salt. So apply to the schools you realistically have a shot at (and the ones you name seem within reach) and see what happens. I think a good rule of thumb is two reach, two realistic and two safety. It worked for my daughter. Good luck!
