I want to know what my chances are for being accepted to USC as a transfer for fall 2013. I currently have a 4.0 gpa, but after the spring semester I expect it will drop to around 3.8. I currently have 28 credits and after this semester I will have 45. I don't have any EC's (will this hurt me?) but I do have volunteer hours. I am majoring in Geology.

One other thing; for the diversity requirement, does it help to have that completed before transferring, or does it not matter? The writing requirement will be done in the spring.

Do I stand a chance? I'm mostly nervous that I don't have any EC's..

GPA looks great! keep that up. Even the 3.8 is great. the Volnteer thing CAN hurt your chances. As a transfer at SC, i know 4.0s who have gotten denied because they have no ECs. I also know 3.4s with impeccable ECs who have gotten in. Even if its one thing, just have somethig done outside of school, or even a club in school and get active in it. HS gpa and SAT score won’t matter becasue you will have over 30 units by the app deadline.

Having GEs done, including diversity won’t matter if completed or not by the end of spring. As long as the math and english are done, your fine. Getting GEs complete would be wise and looks better on an app, shows initiative and saves time for when you transfer.

for TRANSFER students, they will only look at standardizes test scores and HS gpa if you have less that 30 units at the time of app deadline (feb 1st) if you have more than that, they will disregard scores and HS gpa
