Schools I’m applying to:
Regular Decision: USC (SoCal), Colby, Scripps
Early Action: Drexel, UGA, Northeastern, Miami (FL), Saint Louis
Most curious about USC and Scripps and as to whether or not they’re achievable reaches
Demographics: Asian female from the Southeast, upper class, senior at a competitive private school in the southeast
Intended Major: Media Studies (not film and I won’t be applying into film programs- at USC I’m applying into their school of communications)
Academics:
ACT: Highest composite: 33 (34M, 32E, 32R, 34S), Superscored: 35 (34M, 35R, 35E, 34S)
GPA UW: 90.93 Weighted: 92.43, upward trend from freshman to sophomore year
AP: junior year APUSH- 4, taking calc AB, lit, and macro this year
Took a majority of honors classes each year
My school doesn’t offer a lot of APs- you can’t take any freshman year and can only take one sophomore year
Extracurriculars:
Orchestra (9), Yearbook (10-12) and helped out with admissions at my school for 2 years
Did a boarding school for a semester junior year (very well-received by colleges, especially LACs in the northeast such as Colby)-- the program I attended only offered APUSH and the AP Calcs so APUSH was the only AP I could take junior year
Had an internship with the capital of my state’s government where I worked with the director of HR Attended Duke TIP’s summer program for kids who scored high on the SAT/ACT in middle school
Rec Letters: One is coming from a teacher who knows me pretty well and is pretty well-respected in the teaching community (has loads of experience as being a headmaster for several schools and has been teaching for 30+ years)
The other will probably be generic but I did have an upward trend in her class (around 11 points in 1 semester w/ no replacement of grade)
Sidenote- I have a legacy at USC and will not need financial aid, but really want merit
Thank you so much!!!
