Hello everyone, I currently a raising senior planning on applying to UT at Austin for the fall freshman class of 2015. UT is one of my top picks for college and I was wondering what my chances are of admission. Also considering my hypothetical admission into UT would I be able to enroll in the McCombs school of business for a potential business major ?

For academics...
GPA: 4.39 weighted (UW: 3.73)
Rank: 7.9% (770 total student body)
SAT: 1930 (only took it once and I'm plan on retaking the SAT this October)
AP: 5's in WHAP, APUSH, LANG, HUMANGEO, CN (I know seems pretty liberal artsie)(note: have not and will not take statistics)

For Extracurricular activities...
3 years Kiwanis volunteer club (full 20 hours each fulfillment)
1 years NHS (30 hour)(also did volunteering this summer to count towards that)
Local language club (10~15 hours)
No long term sports or fine arts (2years only) :(

That pretty much sums up what I have to offer. I should add that my math grades aren't the bets, and I'm only starting to engage in more clubs and activates senior year as I have late arrival. I'm thinking about applying pretty soon and I'm having doubts if such a short resume would ever suffice for UT. I'll hopefully try my best to scrap together a more meaty resume when I apply.

If anyone can give a few pointers about UT admissions or my academics relating to a major or just your general opinion I'd be happy to listen. Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this!

If you plan on business I suggest you take statistics because you’ll definitely be taking it in college. Work on extracurriculars and community service. You already mentioned you’d work on test scores, try out the ACT in september and see if you like it.
I would say UT Austin would be a low to mid reach because of your score and lack of extracurriculars.
Chance me back?

I think my SAT score will improve this coming October; I also forgot to mention I’m planning on taking Physics and History SAT II subject tests. I agree I need to focus on EC more then I 'am as of now.

Thanks Dream0n, lahula521 for the feedback, will chance back.

I live in Austin, and UT is very selective. However there is an auto admit rule for top 7% of the class. If that holds for out of state as well, not sure. Google that one. Your AP scores are great and all, my main question is you claim to be pursuing business but there aren’t any courses that prove it? Like lahula521, Stat is a good one. Also, see if your school offers Business Management. Mine does, and that would be a great asset for you. Also, college essays! Can’t stress that one enough. That’s the main thing that distinguishes you here in Texas. Good Luck! Chance me back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1674376-i-really-need-help-please.html#latest

For business I’m taking AP economics but aside from that and maybe some math courses I haven’t found any other viable courses. I’ll try to find activities outside of the school that help my aspirations.
Thanks for the feedback worrywart !
