Chance Me for UT BHP, NYU Stern, and Upenn Wharton?

Hello I am a current junior (asian male >.<) and I was just wondering if you guys wouldn’t mind chancing me for these business undergrad schools/ giving any tips for a future applicant?

SAT: 2290 (770R,800M, 720W, 10 Essay) 2340 Super (770R, 800M, 770 W, 10 Essay)
SAT II: Math 2 800 , World History 740 , taking chemistry + us history + literature June!
ACT: Haven’t taken yet(most likely will)

Class Rank: top 2 ish % (class size is almost 1400, our school’s scary, had multiple EA harvard + princetons and some stanford/other top-tier schools)
Junior Course Load: AP US History, AP English 3, AP Calc BC, AP Computer Science, AP Statistics, AP Music Theory, Orchestra
Projected Senior Course Load: AP Macro and Micro Econ, AP Bio, CS 3 Honors, AP Eng 4, Orchestra, AP Art History
Won’t go to detail of past grades but I never have gotten a B in my classes and have taken all the AP classes I could, I have 3 years chinese, 2 years french, and 9 AP credits end of junior year,

National Awards: just the usual National Merit Semifinalist(well over the cut of previous years), National AP Scholar (most likely), and also BPA Ambassador Torch Award (I haven’t seen many people post these, they aren’t really worth to note are they?!), Presidents Silver Service Award, National French Exam,

Extracurriculars:
Orchestra (9-11): officer for 2 years, assistant concertmaster of state honor orchestra, all state symphony orchestra, youth orchestra in our city top level/principal position (going to world tour this summer), volunteering at retirement homes (100+ hours)
BPA: officer, statesman torch award, regionals 2nd place
French: state finalist, 1st place regional french competition, club officer
And then there’s thngs like NHS,KEY,Habitat,Math/Mu Alpha Theta but I’m just a member/nothing special done in it
Volunteering about 250+ hours through misc. things (volunteer at local hospital, volunteer for local symphony orchestra, etc.)
Also I was wondering if I could include stuff about my YouTube channel (I edited videos for online gaming, do you think I can put that?), have around 1200 subscribers through my accounts, decent number of total views (I think around 50k+), and can you send a video as supplement or no?
I’m also thinking about having an add. rec letter from my violin teacher and another from a professor at the school i’m ED’ing (Upenn), teacher recs should be good but counselor has too many students to account for but I’ve spoken to her a few times
Planning to work senior year and I most likely have an internship this summer at a software company

Thank you for reading and I didn’t put all the ivies/MITs/Stanfords b/c I know those are high reaches for everyone so I chose schools that I thought I might have a reasonable (above 10% maybe XD?) chance at making. Can’t wait till a year from now where I’ll be waiting for results ;(((((((

Difficulty of getting in;

Wharton>>>NYU. I don’t know about UT BHP.

Your chance is as good as your next door’s smart kid, but remember there are loads of Asian kids that have similar ECs like you do. Youtube sounds fun but what does it contribute to you?

Not sure about UT, but NYU may be match~high match but all the others are reaches.

If you are pursuing undergraduate business program, you should apply to

  1. Indiana University-Bloomington(match)
  2. UCLA/UCB(low reach)
  3. Bentley or Babson(low reach)
  4. U of Alabama(safety)

How much can you pay?

UT BHP might be a little bit of a stretch, just aim for regulars business at McCombs. The others school seem like a bit of a reach. I feel that what Paul said holds true. The University and Alabama and Bentley seem like good matches if regular McCombs seems too hard.

Film is good, if you have a club of activities to properly supplement it. Anyways, good luck!

Hey! Impressive looking resume. I’d say you actually have a good shot at making UT BHP, but don’t expect too much. A few things I noticed about your application:
-Work on that SAT! You’re really close to what I call the “threshold score” for most prestigious programs.
-No science class Junior year? Yikes!
-Orchestra is good! I’m not sure if you mentioned already, but what instrument do you play? I find that violins generally have a hard time differentiating themselves, whereas I’ve seen exceptional Violas make ivies. Not quite sure what “assistant concertmaster” is, but in a large school group, I believe you should be at the top.
-Youtube, I’d be a little cautious with that. Are you a member of a film club or have you contributed to any professional videos?
-I noticed national french exam but no French 4 AP? I would be careful mentioning that, since colleges do look for consistency.
Overall, there’s no harm in shooting for programs such as UT BHP or even NYU stern. ED Upenn is fine as well. Make sure to have a backup though! Best wishes!

Current intern at Apple

Thanks wow I can’t believe a MIT graduate replied to my thread! No I’m not aiming at ivies (no chance) and am just hoping for UT McCombs for now!

gloating

I think you have a great chance at NYU ED. A few days ago, I came across a guy who had interned at a hedge fund and was applying to Wharton ED this year. He was an international but had more or less the same grades as you have. So that must tell you something about the competition at Penn ED.

Overall, you have a great package. It is just that I cannot see that WOW factor that most colleges would love to see in you. Especially the Ivies and their counterparts. If you can get that internship at the software company and get glowing recs from your employer, you should try out ED.

At this point, you should work on your essays. Also, taking no science classes was a risky move. That might hurt you in the future.

Best of luck!
