I know my SAT1 score is extremely low; however, that is because of my lack of proficiency in english language as i moved here three years ago..it is not an excuse for a low score, but it definitely played a big role in pulling me down..do you think it will affect my chances terribly?

I will welcome constructive criticisms

bumppppppppppppppppp

well if you can articulate the reason your SAT english is low very well to the colleges, perhaps it wont negatively affect you that bady, but how is your SAT 1 Math score? if your SAT I math score is not 700+ then it probably wont look that great, if its clearly uneven (high math, much lower reading) then colleges will perhaps take that langugae barrier into account but unlikely

anyway, UVA- id say good change, in state slghtly higher change i guess
Rice and Cornell-reaches, Rice is known for in a way taking in a disporportionate amount of Texas kids over other states kids, but they also get way more Texan applicants; Cornell depends on the school, AgSci- good chance, CAS-harder, Eng- harder (AgSci would be easiest for you id say)
Wash U- difficult to say they are sort of stat oriented but im not too aware of this school to make a judgement
WM- dont know what school this even is haha William and Mary? if it is i still dont know much about this school sorry

UVA, WM, Rice, Washu and Cornell

SAT is a bit low, but you have good AP scores & rank, and classes to make up for it.

UVa - Match
W&M - In
Rice - Low Reach
WashU - Low Reach/Reach
Cornell - Reach

Just my 2 cents, you should have tried the ACT. My SAT I is a 1700 (had the flu when taking this), but ACT is a 33 which is basically like a 2220.

UVA - Match
W&M - Match
Rice - Low Reach
WashU - Reach
Cornell - Reach

I’d say you would be a match for rice, cornell, washu if your SAT I was a bit higher.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1063701-chance-me-cornell-jhu-washu-northwestern-upenn-emory.html</a></p>

you definitely seem like an awesome candidate i’m jealous. uva definitely in, i’m assuming you’re instate. matches for the others as well. cornell is going to be a reach even for the perfect applicant, its an ivy league, but i still think you have a strong chance, great grades and extremely involved in highschool. please chance back!

thanks for all the responses
yes i’m instate
and my scores are extremely disproportionate…with a 740 on math and a 510 on CR…this is where it all fell apart…i hope colleges overlook or at least place less emphasis on my reading scores

51 in CR will be a huge disadvantage for you. will you take SAT again in Jan?
i would say

UVA - Match
W&M - Match
Rice - mid-reach
WashU - Reach
Cornell - Reach

good luck!

yeah i kinda knew that…hopefully my research and ok gpa and class rank will help me

How do you have AP scholar with distinction?

SATs are definitely low for those schools, but you definitely have some interesting ECs. But again, your SATs are low…

UVa - mid reach
WashU - mid/high reach
Cornell - high high reach

Tips: retake SATs - you can raise! I’m from Sweden, went to a swedish school, raised SAT from 1730 - 2190!

But I think that you’ll get into at least one of those! Good luck! :)

Please chance back :] http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1062868-chance-swede-wharton-harvard-yale-etc.html</a></p>
