Hi, I have a bit of confidence that I could get in, but I've heard stories of super-qualified people being rejected. Needless to say, I'm terrified. I really do want to get into UW, because honestly: it's cheap, it's in Washington, and it has a pretty good aerospace engineering program.

So:

-3.76 GPA
-1660 SAT (Waiting on second test results, probably going to do better)
-20 ACT (Retaking in December)
-Five AP classes (US History, Gov, Lang, Lit, Calc)
-Only because my school only offers five.
-NHS member for 11th and 12th grade.
-12th Grade rep
-Participated in Washington Aerospace Scholars program.
-Went through online course, and netted myself a spot along with 160 other individuals in participating in a 1-week . astronomy-engineering residency. The experience also granted me 5 credits in UW's "Space and Space Travel course"
-Five years of Math
-Four years of Spanish
-Four years of English
-Four years of Science
-Four years of Social Studies
-One year of Visual Arts

Are you in-state? My son applied from out-of-state, and was waitlisted. He had a 2060 SAT, 31 ACT, and was not looking at an “impacted” department.

Don’t report your ACT score. I think you have a decent chance, but like previous posters have stated, your SAT is a bit low. It’s still within the ball park, which is what matters. I’d say 60% chance of admittance.

If you improve your ACT score to around a 27 and list great E.C’s you will increase your chances dramatically. UW Seattle is an excellent school and I think they will notice your interest to study there.

The mean GPA for the 2014 freshman class was 3.76, and the 25/75 ACT was 25/31. If your GPA of 3.76 is unweighted, then that should be OK. I think an ACT of around 28 to 29 would give you a better chance with a mean GPA, since apparently there was a 17% increase in applications this year. Good luck!
