3.9 GPA
33 ACT
In a few clubs, scholastic bowl, football, Bio Bowl (2nd place), volunteer for a lot of little kid things (bible schools, antidrug retreats, tutoring), Weak EC's overall
My school only offers one AP before senior year, 4 total. Planning on taking 2 of them. No hooks pretty WASPish. Not really sure what other info you need but please chance me thanks!

Your GPA (I’m assuming unweighted?) is good and your ACT is decent. Your EC’s definitely seem a bit weak for a school like Vanderbilt. If you want the harsh truth, I would say its a bit of a long shot for Vandy but, hey, theres no harm in applying!! You never know!!

Thanks for the honest opinion!!

i wouldn’t say your chances are as much of a longshot as corvenzo seems to think because from my admissions experience, i thought i was a longshot, but my college counselor told me that they loved my application. i think applying ED and having an involved college counselor really helped me out, so if you’re sure it’s where you want to be, do ED. Also, get to know your counselor. my specs were probably not even as good as yours. i had an unweighted gpa of 91/100 (weird scale, i know), a 32 on the ACT, strong leadership positions in a couple extra curricular activities, participation in a couple others, and a focus on service through one organization during high school. apparently that plus my essay was enough to make them love me. however, that being said, from looking at the statistics of those admitted for next year, i doubt i would’ve gotten in had i been in that pool, and it’s getting harder every year. regardless though, if it’s where you want to be, i say go for it, and you might just be pleasantly surprised by the result :)
