Chance Me for Wharton! (will chance back)

Okay, so I am thinking about applying to Wharton ED next year. In this thread, I am writing as if I am a senior though with approximations of what I think my scores will be where appropriate. Please chance me as if the predictions are correct. Thanks! (If you want me to chance you back, just mention it in your post)

Oh, and if you can, please chance me for Stanford EA also. Thanks!

A n y b o d y ?

Mhmm you’ll make it but I hope you’re not a ■■■■■ LOL

^You really think I will? Wharton is pretty hard…

About being a ■■■■■, why the **** would I lie about that? To make myself feel good?

High match

Excellent business orientated EC’s make up for average stats otherwise.

Thanks everyone. What about Stanford?

10charbump

you are no different than the other 1,000 other kids fighting for that spot

You really think so? I bet I could count the number of undergrad applicants to Wharton with 6 figures businesses on just one of my hands.

I think your greatest advantage is your company. Just go full on that - narrow down your extracurriculars and really FOCUS on your company and try to expand it. You’re on the right track.

One fishy thing though (which might be why a poster above said “■■■■■”). How are you currently taking AP Calc BC when you’re self-studying AP Calc AB right now?

^I got a little mixed up when I was posting this… I didn’t notice that earlier. Anyways, I am currently self studying AB Calc (Junior year) and will take BC Calc as a class Senior year. As I said in the top of the post, I wrote it as if I was a senior with my expected grades where necessary and just forgot to change what I’m actually doing now to past tense if that makes sense.

I agree–focus your ECs. You have a good shot

I think you have a good shot. I don’t know if the ACT score is what you got or plan to get, but if you got that as a junior, congrats! That is something to be proud of. Keep your grades up and I think you have a good chance at Wharton.

Definitely mention your company in your essays and play it up as much as possible! It makes you very unique and really supports your interest in business. Other than that, your scores/GPA are impressive, and I think you have a great chance! If anything, try to score a couple more leadership positions in your ECs just to show that you’re well-rounded.
As for now, I think you’re a really strong applicant; keep on track, get your scores up as high as possible (try the SAT too if you have time) and you’ll have a really good shot.

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1256927-chances-hyps-top-colleges-will-chance-back.html

I think you have a very strong shot at Wharton since you have the business, and you have strong objective things (so far, I got a bit confused as to what you have taken and what you plan to take).

Maybe find one more thing that you’re passionate about for ECs? You have focus, but showing that you have interests in other areas never hurts. Other than that, you are a strong applicant. One thing you will need to do is write strong essays, and in the Why Penn essay, be careful. You do not want them to think you’re arrogant/feel like you’ve got business under control.

Also, this is not meant for your situation, per se, but I knew a kid who had this whole private equity company, 6 figures, etc. It wasn’t genuine; it was clear he had tons of outside help. Plus, he was only interested in the money and prestige. Colleges saw right through that. Colleges don’t like a completely materialistic outlook, so be careful how you present everything. Other than that, it is an excellent EC that, presented correctly, makes you a very strong candidate.

iPhone app development company? Can’t anyone develop an iPhone app? Doesn’t really strike me as being comparable to running an actual business

^ so iPhone app companies aren’t “businesses?” Please tell me you are joking… What’s a business then?

I think it depends on what you’re doing. A software development company is a business. On the other hand, I created three iphone apps during college and I would not consider what I do akin to running a business.
