Chance me for Wharton?

Hello I'm currently a sophomore at one of the most competitive high schools in PA. I'm really interested in applying to Wharton as well as other ivies ED next year.

9th grade: I didn't really care about anything in middle school, resulting in my enrollment in all academic classes freshman year. However, I got all A's except in Chemistry both semesters, along with Art and Food.

GPA: 3.6/3.9W

10th grade: I'm taking the most rigorous classes that are offered, but because of a scheduling difficulty I have to take (H) Biology next semester.

(H) Geometry: A
(H) English 10: A
Biology: A
History: A
Entrepreneurship: A
(H) Algebra 2: B (been slacking, will hopefully get an A)

My school didn't offer any AP's this year besides Chemistry, and considering that I couldn't even get a B in Academic, I wasn't going to put myself through that. I did, however, take an initiative an am taking 3 AP's online.

(AP) Economics
(AP) U.S History
(AP) U.S Gov & Politics
(H) Spanish 2 <- couldn't take honors in school until Spanish 3, so I opted to take it online this year.

I'm doing well in the AP classes so far, and plan to get 4's and 5's on the exams.

Extra curriculars (they're all pretty business related in some way):
-Future Business Leaders of America (treasurer, 1 year)
-Science club (member, 2 years)
-Investment club (member, 1 year)
-Student council (1 year)
-Homeroom representative (need to be elected, 1 year)
-Executive council (1 year)
-NHS (1 year)
-Been investing since 2011, portfolio is now worth around 110k.
-Code websites for my Dads friends on the side. Made around 5 figures so far since 7th grade.

Throwing for track for 2 years. Went to state finals last year.
Lightweight rowing for 3 years, have a 7:48 2k. Think I can get it below 7:40 before next year however.

My grades are pretty solid so far. I think my trading and rowing are pretty competitive traits.
What am I looking to score for on the ACT's and SAT's to compete amongst other ivy applicants?

I'm thinking of applying to the following next year (all business schools):
UChicago
Yale
Harvard
Emory
CMU
UMich

What would be some other matches/low reaches for a finance major? Thank you! Sorry if I have any typos.

Buuuuuuuuuump!

The reason you’re not getting any responses is that your question is pretty ridiculous. You’re a sophomore with no real information to offer. Your GPA right now is pretty low. But you have 3 more years to work on it. You don’t have any testing information. To answer your question your scores should be as high as possible. And BTW, half of the schools you’ve mentioned that you want to apply to don’t have undergraduate business schools. So you should do your research. For now relax and enjoy your high school experience.

Sorry to say it but your ECs are nothing special. Try to find something you like and stick with it. I suggest you read Cal Newport’s “How to be a high-school superstar” book. It explains in detail how to find an interest and tailor your ECs with regards to it. The best thing is to have an overarching theme to all your ECs. In the book, the author discusses how a girl really like lobsters, and did research at internships on them and had projects based on them and gave presentations based on them. Pick a topic.

Hi thank you for your responses!
@momworried I just posted to see if I was on the right track to what Wharton is looking for so far…
@CercaTrova could you elaborate on how I could improve my EC’s? I try to make them as business oriented as I can, and I’m really interested and involved with my clubs. I think that my trading could be related to the lobster example you gave, or no? Thanks for any help. Also, do you have any info on rowing recruitment at Wharton or the other ivies? Thank you.

Can anyone else help?

As a lightweight rower, you’re going to need a sub-6:50 2k to have a shot at recruitment to an ivy. Ideally you’ll want sub-6:40.

my first instinct is that you need to get involved IN DEPTH, starting NOW so you have time to move into higher leadership positions. you’ve skimmed the surface with a million different things, but there’s little commitment to one solid thing. everything’s 1 year, looking at your list.

and just saying, the whole “my portfolio is worth $XX” is crap. you could have started with $109k and only made $1k, you could have had your parents help you manage, etc. basically doesn’t say much about YOUR commitment.
