Chance me for Wharton ED?

I'm currently a junior and Wharton's my dream school so I was wondering if any of you could chance me. Any comments/suggestions are very well appreciated.

SAT: 710 M, 670 W, 670 R (Not a good testing day for me)
ACT: 32 (35 in math)
GPA: 4.4 (weighted), probably around 3.8 unweighted
Rank: 23/760
APs: (Completed) U.S. History-4, (By graduation) English Literature, Micro/Macro Economics, US gov't, Statistics, Calculus BC, Physcology, Chemistry, English Language, Spanish Language
ECs: By graduation I'll have 4 years of cross country (most likely a captain next year), 2 years of track, two years of Spanish Honors Society, member of National Honors Society, and 1 year of Math Club.
Volunteering: I tutor a 5th grader in math 2 hours a week

Hate that I have to ask this, but gender and ethnicity?

Haha, unfortunately white male

Do well in calc and try to do something that makes you standout (business, intern, non-profit). Bring up your standardized test scores too. Other than that, good job c;

Thanks! Yeah I’m usually pretty decent at math so hopefully I’ll do good in calc and I was thinking about starting a business with some of my friends over the summer so I should be on the right track.

Keep in mind though, starting a business doesn’t guarantee entry! (even with an outstanding record, regrettably.) I, for example, have started two companies, written and published a book, and am in the process of starting a non-profit - and I was deferred. Do all that you can, but don’t expect anything - especially as (once again, I hate that this matters) a white male.

Yeah, it seems like its a tough school to get into no matter what you did. Good luck on getting in though!

Hey guys

I hate to be grim, but those standardized test scores are not very strong. In addition, none of your ECs express your interest in business. It will be very difficult for you to give reasons for going to Wharton when you have not done anything you can use as support. Your GPA looks fine, although for such a competitive school like uPenn Wharton, I daresay its not enough.
Your GPA is subpar because of your class ranking. 23/700+ is not very good for one aspiring for Wharton. I am assuming you go to a public school. If it was private, then I would say you have a decent chance depending on the competitiveness of your high school.
For example I go to a private school and only one person in the graduating class got into UPenn Wharton ED and he was the valedictorian with a perfect GPA and a three sport varsity athlete (captain in one) etc. Good luck though…

This is such a common misconception on this forum, not expressing interest in business is ok, although expressing interest may be helpful.

I have been told that 2250 (99th percentile) is on the LOW END for Wharton so you might want to keep that in mind.

Yeah I know my chances are still pretty slim. I’m thinking my test scores will go up next time , as those first two were without any studying and recently I’ve been getting fairly consistent 35/36s on all the ACT practice tests.

Sorry if I sound negative but, I was rejected ED to Wharton and my stats are very similar to yours:

2250 SAT
3.8 UW / 4.0 W
Rank: Top 5%
Varsity XC 3 years - Co-captain Senior Year
Track & field 3 years
Business internships @ wholesale business
Marketing internship @ entertainment venue where I started company newsletter
150+ hours volunteer
MUN - Econ committee
Spanish national honor society
NHS

Asian Male - First generation college from school of class size around 750

You’re going to need MIND BLOWING essays & recs! I wish someone told me this because I got too cocky and thoguht my essays were good when they weren’t close to what I needed. Prepare well and you’ll have a chance.

^wut were ur supp essays about

^i have no idea why i resorted to text speak. i tried editing the post but its too late now. forgive me. haha the wait of decisions is driving me nuts!
