@XoXdreamerXoX While I think that some encouragement is nice, a 3.5 weighted with a 1700 and 3 APs is simply not enough to cut it at top schools. Doesn’t matter if you’re black, class president, whatever – you can’t overcome low numbers. Despite holistic admissions, GPA and test scores will continue to be one of the main if not the main determiner of admittance into top schools.
@OP: there are a lot of great schools that are more in your range. Do some research and try to build a more reasonable list that isn’t entirely reach schools. One or two is fine, but otherwise it’s a waste of time (and application money).
What exactly are you looking for in a college? Have you had the chance to visit any? Are finances a consideration? There are many, many colleges just below the top tier where students receive outstanding educations. If you are more specific with your interests and parameters, people might be able to offer you some great suggestions.
The colleges you have listed don’t really have anything in common, except for prestige.
1700 is 400+ points below any Ivy’s SAT range
Like midwestdad said, focus on what the school can do for you rather than the name - it makes all the difference
The OP’s academic index would still only be around 182, barely above the Ivy cutoff of 175 used for academic recruits. That would make it extremely difficult for her to get admitted even if (hypothetically) she were a recruitable athlete. The strong presumption would be that the OP just does not meet the academic qualifications necessary to succeed at the schools listed.
Father of a AA daughter student at Y, and unfortunately both your GPA and test scores are below the range in which you would receive serious consideration, unless there is some other major hook to your application. By way of example, my Ds GPA and score, were 3.9 and 2200, and she was a recruited athlete. The good news is there a ton of other schools that would love a student like you–best.
