Brown
Dartmouth
Stanford
Princeton
University of Chicago
UPenn

My guess:

Yale- 25%
Brown- 50-%
Dartmouth- 50%
Stanford- 25%
Princeton- 25%
University of Chicago- 75%
UPenn- 55%

Agree with Slipper if you hit 2250.

And I'd add in Spanish senior year, you look to heavy in math/science only, and they all have too many candidates with that strength.

Hmm i'll think about going back to spanish hmom, but I'd only be in spanish 4 then :-.
Also I was wondering what you guys think my chances would be at Duke
:) thanks

The only thing that seems weird to me is that you have a 700 on Math SAT and are taking Discrete/Linear Algebra and getting an A. Those just don't seem to correlate, your classes are like a million times harder than the SAT Math. If you bump up that Math score i think it will improve your application drastically.

Haha I know all the questions i missed were geometry which I haven't taken since 8th grade. I probably should have reviewed that before taking the SAT but I'm going to review it this time and think an 800 shouldn't be too hard to get if I am careful.

I think you have a solid chance at Duke and Chicago. For all the other schools, they're reaches for everyone. I might be being presumptuous here, but you have a lot of ECs but they seem more like padding.

Well your right that they are padding, but my school forces us to do a club or two a year and two sports a year,so I really had no choice but to do those clubs. Everything else I choose to do though :-P.

Any other opinions? :[

you're stats look good. transcript pretty flawless. you're ec's seem a little unfocused though. for the ivies, they look for passion in something... just something more than the high gpa and test scores. don't get me wrong the ec's that you have are good. i'd say look at some other top 20's, besides ivies. and obviously safeties. but you look like a very competitive applicant. keep it up.

Wanna http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/653970-gimme-shot.html?

True. My passions are science and I'm hoping the research I do for the majority of the summer will show that. I'm also doing a science fair project my senior year to try to show that as well. Hopefully that'll show some kind of commitment.

yeah definitely. just try to showcase that on your app. remember, half of getting in is taking what you got and selling yourself. the research sounds focused, so portray that and you're in good shape. but also make sure you say how you also have plenty of other interests, like the varsity lax and your other clubs. looking good.

Back again :P looking for some more opininos

I agree with others and I think you should go back to spanish senior year. It is recommended that you take one language as long as you can throughout high school and will show dedication and that you still wanted to do Spanish in Junior year even though you couldn't.

Chance me back?

Hm thanks I might not take spanish 4 because I'm going to complete spanish with rosetta stone and my counsellor will let colleges know about that. I'm wonder if I have a shot at yale realistically or if I should apply ED to one of my other choices?

Unless your school is highly competitive (average SAT around 2100) and your scores go up 200 plus points, I'd try Penn ED.

Thanks for the suggestion hmom. My high school is highly competitive, about 15-20 students get acceptance at ivy league schools each year. Average class size is about 130-150. I'm almost certain my SAT will be atleast 2250, because my math will be an 800 with preparation and my writing should go up now that I have reviewed grammar. With that information does your suggestion change?

Just Fyi, a highly competitive high schools sends 30% plus to the ivies plus (plus being Stanford and MIT).

The big thing about really competitive schools, and your school is competitive, is that there are usually lots of legacies and sometimes considerable numbers of recruited athletes and URMs. Your classmates are your first line of competition, so where and when (if three get in to a school ED, you'll have a hard time RD) they apply matter.

You need a strategy based on your school's scaattergrams (especially if they note who had hooks), knowing who's applying where from your class and understanding what you might uniquely offer specific schools.

School math and SAT math are not closely related. I'm a junior taking Calc BC (have an A in that class), but my SAT math scores are around 700-750. After all, on the SATs, 1 incorrect question on the math section = ~770-780. Remember, you are under pressure, and sometimes easy math can cause brain farts or be challenging, in an inverted sense.

You dont even really need to shoot for 2250 SAT since you have a 34 ACT which is about the same or higher
