Chance me for Yale SCEA?

Sorry CC, accidentally posted this already in Yale subforum instead of college chances, which makes much more sense.

Teacher Recs:
Should be pretty good. One is from my Apush teacher/speech and debate coach/former YIG director; he knows what I've gone through and how much work I've put in my extracurriculars, as well as in class academically. Another is from my AB Calc teacher last year, she knows better than anyone how much I like math, also the sponsor for the Math Club we founded last year.

In summary, I'd say my hands down most important activity is Youth In Government just because of how much I've grown because of the program - it'll probably be the subject of my CA essay.

Speech and Debate is very high up there too, but my school has a local focus and so we don't attend many large, national tournaments.

With the math-related EC's, I realize they aren't amazing, but there was no existing framework at my school for math competitions (or even the AMC), so I started it Junior Year when I helped found our Math honors Society. My rec letters will probably address these points about Speech and Debate and Math Honors.

Anyways, Thanks for reading!

Don’t really have anything truly bad to say about this app. Yale seems like a match to me.

Good luck.

All I can say is, damn!

You are definitely the type of student that Yale is looking for. Your ECs are rock solid, your SAT/ACT are top notch, and your transcript is through the roof.

Of course, with an early acceptance rate hovering around 14%, the school will not be easy to get into, as only 1 out of every 7 students get in. However, your application and wholesomeness honestly looks like that 1 out of 7 who gets in. Now obviously I’m not here to tell you something you didn’t already know, so let’s get to it.

Yale’s SCEA is one of the most, if not the most, competitive form of early acceptance in the nation. It will not be easy, and come December 15, most will get a rejection letter. However, I believe that your strong resume should but not necessarily would get you an acceptance letter. **************.com tells me that you are at the 92nd percentile for all of those admitted, but you have to take that with a grain of salt as the average SAT score according to the site is a 2310 and the GPA is a 3.88 - this is obviously not that big of a difference from your credentials but it is big enough.

So my final verdict: Yale is a match. Things could go either way. It all depends on what the committee is looking for. Thanks for chancing btw.

Definitely one of the best apps I’ve seen on this site. I’d say you have a great shot SCEA. I agree with the above posters: the ivies are very hard to predict and things can go either way. That being said, I really think that you are a match for Yale. Keep up the good work.

I’m not sure why the posters above are saying that Yale SCEA is a match. If you’re not a highly desirable athlete or part of the George Bush dynasty, then Yale is a reach.

That being said, I’m terrified that I’ll have to compete with people like you in the SCEA pool this year. You’ve done everything right and if you don’t get in, it won’t be because of test scores, ec’s, recs, or grades. If you look at the Yale 2017 SCEA results thread, you’ll see that your resume matches many of the admits.

I don’t know what to say haha. I wish I could get a 36 on the ACT and do all of this. I go to a school where there is only one ACP class and no AP or Honors classes. You definitely have what it takes in my eyes to attend Yale. I hope you get accepted!

I guess that it’s true that Yale (as with all ivies) is (or at least should be…) a reach for everybody. That being said, holy crap. You are not everybody. There’s no way you won’t get in there. Obviously, no guarantees, but coming from me, a high school student who takes classes at Yale, you sound like someone who belongs there. Good luck.

You are the most qualified applicant I have ever witnessed before. I don’t see why you shouldn’t be accepted, but those who usually apply to ivies like Yale, come prepared with backgrounds similar to yours. The personal statement may be your only unique aspect that determines your fate.

I do hope you get accepted, you appear to deserve based on your dedication towards the community and others.

Best of luck.

Yale SCEA: Reach or High reach (Asian)

No hook-> Automatic reach

A reach for Yale. Sadly. Because your application and accomplishments will be just another number on the “applied applicants” list, even though we all know you’re too damn much to be defined by a number or two…I really hope Yale takes you into serious consideration before any decisions are made.

Still, gun for SCEA. And wherever you go, they’ll be lucky to have you…best of luck in your application season.

Thank you guys for the feedback!

Yale SCEA is always a reach, but I think for you it’s a low one! All the best.

I’ll echo consensus and think you’ll have a good chance even with Yale’s low admittance rate. Keep in mind, we’re also assuming the other parts of the application, which can’t be shown such as your personal statements and recommendation letters are also on par with your resume. I’ve seen many students assume their strong credentials will get them in, and then neglect the above two parts. You know how the story ends.

Best of luck and hope you get into Yale!

You will get into a few great colleges.

Good luck!

With good essays, you prob one of the better candidates I’ve seen. A match(low reach b/c it is Yale) for Yale in EA, if deferred you have a really good RD chance. Even with a rejection, one of the top schools will def accept you.
That being said, I feel you have a very good chance of getting an accepted letter in Dec

LOL. We went to CONA together. I recognized you in a heartbeat. Massachusetts, represent.

Oh I should update. They gave me the D (deferred).
