Hmmm…I might consider it. I’m just not that crazy about Penn’s small campus. Maybe though! Thanks!

Yup. Born and raised here. Second generation to work at Crystal. Gotta admit though, Boyne probably has better skiing.

Not sure why you would think Penn is out of reach when your thread has Yale in the subject. Go for it!

Hey hey hey!!!
Wow, you’re just like me. The school I attended last year had NO ecs either, and only three honors courses. Therefore I had no ecs, and just my three honors. Thank God I’m not going there anymore! I’m going to a new school where I’ll have ALL honors. I just hope they don’t be too hard on me :S because of the fact that I had nothing my freshman year. But this summer I’m working on volleyball and shadowing at a nearby Veterinary hospital. Maybe that’ll somewhat make up for it. I think that you have a FANTASTIC chance. Don’t worry about a thing! I’m sure you’ll get into Yale! I want to go there also! But I’m just going to be a sophomore this year so I still have time to wait. Haha. If you want, you can message me any time! I love to talk. :)

Haha, you’re so lucky to still be at the beginning of high school! Part of me wishes I could do it again just so I could be more involved but I also can’t wait for college! Good luck with Yale. I’m visiting for the first time in a week! We’ll see if it still stays at the top of the list.

@knights…idk. lol. I know they are equally selective but upenn just never occurred to me before.

Bump?

I assume you’ll be applying to UMich and MSU for financial safety reasons.

Actually I don’t plan on it. I mean, I need safeties and I need f.a. but I can’t wait to leave this state. Can you suggest more out-of-state safeties?

Bump again. Just want as many opinions as possible!

Sent from my Vortex using CC App

Because you’ll need significant financial/merit aid, I really recommend applying to at least one of them. I know you can’t wait to leave your state, but because of the $ situation you are in you need to give yourself at least one in-state option.

You may be in contention for some merit aid at Vanderbilt, USC, Emory, UVA, and more schools down the rankings.

Yeah you’re probably right about that. Thanks for the advice. I’ve heard finaid at USC isn’t very good though?

It would totally make my day if someone else would assess my chances…

USC has merit aid.

Oh ok, thanks I don’t know if I’d be able to stand out enough at a school like USC to qualify for merit aid but thank you!

I would say your an average yale applicant, but your personal background(low income, commuting, etc.) gives you an advantage. I’d give you a pretty good shot at Yale, but you are by no means a shoe-in(Barely anyone is at these top schools though).

Thanks for chancing me previously. Your ACT scores are obviously quite high. I think your pretty much good for tests…maybe consider taking the SAT? It doesn’t really matter but since your scored so high on the ACT, your SAT should also be at least a 2200+. Your lack of APs is alright because the school that you previosly attended did not offer them. Just make sure you state this situation. You ecs are pretty good…I wouldn’t worry about them. All I can really say is that keep up the hard work all the way to senior year and don’t get the end of the year senioritis. I think you stand a pretty good shot at the ivies. Good luck.

Yale mid/high reach

Duke low reach

Cornell low reach

Brown mid reach

Stanford mid/high reach

Williams match

Carleton don’t know enough about it…sorry

Wake Forest in

Thanks for the chance! If you apply to yale, duke, cornell, brown, stanford I’m sure you can get at least one of them.

My theory is that one should just apply to as many schools as one can (flood the market, so to speak) and hopefully end up in a few of their targets. I suggest that’s what you do in this case, because you are borderline for so many schools

I think that Yale is somewhat a reach… You have a solid ACT score and solid EC’s. But Yale is always a toss up. Good luck!!

I think you will definitley get into Yale, you seem very bright, unique, and talented which is just what Yale is looking for. Make sure Yale knows its your top choice, and try to visit the campus and get an interview. Go Yale Bulldogs ! :D

I’m actually visiting in 3 days! I’m going for a Questbridge conference and couldn’t get an interview because “no one will be on campus”. I think this is a lie though. I mean, its Yale. But thanks guy for all the wonderful input! Anyone else?
