Chance me for Yale!

Hey Guys!

So first, I want to apologize for posting a chance me discussion, because I KNOW CC isn't really a big fan. I just want another person's opinion to see if I should apply or not, and I want to see if I am a good match. Just be honest with me, I respect it! I'll try to chance back too! By the way, if I get poor feedback, It doesn't really affect me too much because I love what I do, and try my best at school and in my ECs. Anyway, let's take a look:
I'm a Junior BTW

Objective:

•SAT I (breakdown): 2350 - 1600/1600
•ACT: Not submitting.
•SAT II: Didn't take yet, but expecting 750ish
•Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.98
•Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1/300
•AP (place score in parenthesis): None yet, school doesn't offer much too many
•IB (place score in parenthesis):
•Junior Year Course Load: AP Bio, APUSH, Physics H, English H, Spanish H, Pre-calc H.
•Senior Year Course Load: AP Chem, AP Physics, AP English, AP Spanish, AP Calc BC, AP Stat
•Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Some school awards like best athlete, etc. Most notable include 10th in the nation in FBLA/1st in State/5th in state for public speaking. Nothing too crazy...

Subjective:
•Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Class President, FBLA State Officer, FBLA Local Chapter President, National Honor Society (president), Spanish Honor Society (vice president), Varsity Soccer (4 years) Varsity Track and Field (3 years) and Varsity Basketball (3 years).
•Job/Work Experience: Interned at an IT Firm over the summer. Started my own company (not for colleges, but because I love what I do and I feel like I learned a lot from this IT Firm to start my own company. We'll see how it goes though...)
•Volunteer/Community service: Tutoring, and some other stuff (~100hrs)
•Summer Activities: Interning, hopefully governor's school
•Essays (rating 1-10, details): Not the greatest writer, so I'm expecting ~7.5 for both.
•Recommendations (rating 1-10, details): •Teacher Rec #1: AMAZING
•Teacher Rec #2: Strong
•Counselor Rec: Okay...

Other
•School Type: Public
•Ethnicity: African American
•Gender: Male
•Income Bracket: Low
•Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM, low income, first generation.

So that's me in a nutshell. A few things I would want you to know about me are that I am very social and LOVE to have fun. I can be serious, but I'm just as playful. I visited Harvard recently and fell in love, but I'm between Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Yale, and UPenn EA/ED. If any of you guys actually read everything, and you don't think I would fit at Harvard or have a poor chance of getting in, feel free to suggest another college! Or just suggest another college anyway that you think I would fit at! I either want to major in the sciences or business!

@harvardfanatic10‌ , based on your username and stated preference for H, I would be inclined to suggest H. Exceptions occur, and my sample size is less than 100, but I seldom see a kid who fits both H and Y. They might have the chops for both, but I don’t think they fit equally well.

Anyway, on the chances thing, I’ll paste in something I’ve posted before. Your hooks are much better than average, but I think it still applies:

*You’re relatively new here, so possibly you haven’t seen this thread: <a href=“Reminder: No one, not even me, can give you an accurate chance at MIT! - Massachusetts Institute of Technology - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/massachusetts-institute-technology/939227-reminder-no-one-not-even-me-can-give-you-an-accurate-chance-at-mit-p1.html</a>. It’s about MIT, but holds true as well for Yale.

You sound like a wonderful candidate, as will the vast majority of students who are rejected. Recommendations and essays will probably determine the outcome, and we are not the people reading those.

Best of luck to you!*

@IxnayBob Thanks for the feedback, except I’m not relatively new here; I’ve been a lurker for about 6 years now. With that said, I am aware of that MIT post, but I chose to post anyway because hearing what other people think is important sometimes too. Thanks though for the copy and paste reply though at the end!

your stats are definitely admirable, and I’m sure they’ll see you as academically qualified. your hooks are going to help as well. it’s all luck past this point though, and I wish you the best.

You have a very high chance. First you are black so that gives you an edge. You also have a very high SAT score and decent extracurriculars. You have a good chance buddy.

@Whuffy - I have been reading your posts on different forums. What is your obsession with the notion that the only AA students that Yale, Harvard or some other top tier school wants will be a lower SAT/ACT scorer and that their race will tip the scale for them? You obviously have not set foot on these campuses. The minority students there could run circles around most others. Now of course there are some who come from underprivileged backgrounds, but they could be of any race.

I’m beginning to see a not so nice theme here in your posts.
