Hey guys sorry for being annoying, but you have no idea how much it would mean to me to hear a few words of encouragement. This is a really stressfuk time for me so I just want to make sure I’m on the right track. Thank you.

Do you live in GA?

Yes I live in GA

And I am female

I think you are a very competitive applicant, especially since you are in GA. My D19 got in last year with similar stats and we are in CA. I would make sure that your “Why Georgia Tech” essay is meaningful and also make sure you have some true safeties on your list. Good luck!!

You are a great candidate! But don’t put all of hopes in one school. Make sure there are others on your list. You would be a merit worthy candidate at a lot of great schools like GT!

Thank you so much for your input!!!

And amberlanya. If this is your real name. Let’s the mods know by hitting the flag icon and making it known to them. I suggest changing it for privacy purposes. If not. I like it!

Thanks for the input! By the way, could you also chance me for UGA Honors?

I think you have an excellent chance at UGA Honors. UGA Honors, while an excellent program, is less competitive from an admissions standpoint than Georgia Tech. I would apply both places preferably early but also put some true safeties on your list. Uga early admission is based exclusively on grades and test scores. With your grades, test scores and the number of AP classes that you have taken (which are heavily weighted by UGA) You have a very good chance of getting in early, and perhaps may gain early admission to the honors program. If not, I feel sure based on this past year that you will be admitted to the honors program in the spring.

Thank you so so much!

Can someone please also chance me on Duke early decision??

@Amberlanya Herwana
Are you a valedictorian or salutatorian at a public school in Georgia? Then you have automatic admission to GaTech!
Since you are a Georgia state Resident, you can apply for Zell Miller awards. GaTech does not offer merit per se, the state of Georgia does, and it covers full tuition at Georgia Tech but can be used at private schools like Emory U, but will not cover the entire tuition at private schools. GaTech is an incredible deal, for in state students.
If you keep your grades up, it you will keep your Zell Miller award for up to six years if you need that long at GaTech. Students can finish in 4, but you’ll work hard to do that.
You should apply to GaTech by Oct 15 for best chance, but with a biology major, I think you can get in under regular decision as well, as its less crowded than CS and engineering majors, and excellent! Can you apply EA to GaTech and still apply to Duke early?
GaTech offers special merit awards and you must apply by Oct 15 to qualify for any of the special merit, that might include special housing, travel and other perks. However Zell Miller will get you free tuition at U of Georgia, Georgia Tech and others, if you need that.
Duke will cost a LOT more, unless your parents have little to money saved, to contribute, and have low incomes, and can prove that with tax returns to Duke. Duke offers a lot of financial aid to lower middle and low income families.

Thank you so much!

GT had an admit rate of 40% for instate students last year. So you have a very good shot.

Duke is a tougher admit (<10%) than GT but you won’t know if you don’t try.

@Greymeer they must have recalculated after waitlist entries? Those numbers are a little higher then what they handed out at the accepted student day.

Ayy no way. Georgia Tech sophomore here. Won the Emperor Science Award too lol. I think you’ll have a good chance to make it in.
