Chance Me: GPA: 3.57; LSAT: 164 -- apply ED to Georgetown? STEM soft

Hi all,

As it says on the tin:

GPA: 3.57
LSAT: 164

Not URM but Muslim female (don’t think that counts for much but I talked about it in my diversity statement).

So I applied to matriculate Fall 2017 at a few T14 schools (even though I don’t have the stats! Just to see if there were any surprise acceptances.) There weren’t, but I was waitlisted at Georgetown and Columbia. This next cycle I want to reapply to Georgetown, but this time ED. My GPA is a little higher now than when I initially applied for Georgetown, since they waitlisted me before I got my second semester grades back, but I’m not sure how worth it is to apply again.

The only soft I guess I have that’s really worthwhile (I’ve given a talk on a politics research paper, president of PSA, involved in other clubs, etc.) is that I double majored in STEM and Political Science. I’m pretty sure I want to do either patent/IP or health law, and I also have a full-time job at a life science IP firm (as an entry level way) for this interim year before I reapply. My personal statement is focused on that intersection of politics and science, as I think it is unique facet, and I’m wondering what my chances are for Georgetown ED? Georgetown is my dream school so any advice will be appreciated.

This time around I’m also thinking of applying to:

University of Maryland
George Washington University
University of Virginia (such a reach)
University of Colorado
College of William and Mary

I want to be in the DC area but I liked UC Boulder–any chances on the above schools as well? Or recommendations?

Thanks so much.

Can you afford $300k for GULC? Your chances are extremely low, since your numbers are significantly below what Georgetown desires. But, even if you are accepted, you are almost guaranteed to be offered no merit money, so they will expect you to pay sticker.

Everyone gets Wait Listed at Columbia; that’s just what they do.

The wise choice is to retake. Three more correct questions on the LSAT would be huge for your chances.

Comment: Law School is a professional school. Other than Yale, you should not have a “dream” school.

Retake is the obvious choice here. With a 164 you should be able to get to 170, which will dramatically change your chances.

Also, is that life sciences IP firm offering you employment after law school?
