Hey guys I am Chinese American and I live in the greater Chicago area. I go to an all boys catholic school and my income is about $300k. I plan on majoring in biomedical engineering with a potential minor in French.

SAT Subjects: Math 800, Physics 790, Bio 780, French 720
GPA: 97.33/100 UW
APs: BC Calc 5, French 5, Bio 5, Lit 3, APUSH 5, Physics I 4, World 4, CSP 5, Macro 5
Essays: pretty good I guess. Took a bold move.
Rec letters: kinda fire tho

ECs:
Piano: 12 years, American protege 3rd, international Prokofiev 3rd, Local competitions)
Swim: 4 year varsity, 6 years club swimming, 2nd place in conference, national team member
Research: independent paid project to develope microfluidic sorting of organoids (close to 1000 hours of work total)
NHS President
Math club captain
French club president
Nonprofit: Music organization which performs for retirementt homes and donates to cancer foundations.

I’m trying to get into Harvard RA but I am also hoping to see if I can go to MIT.

You are certainly qualified but most qualified applicants are denied. Being Asian American puts you at a further disadvantage. Good luck!

For BME, I would suggest schools like Duke, Vandy, Rice, Johns Hopkins, and WashU. Chances might be better for those schools than Ivies.

Make sure you differentiate yourself from other high scoring Chinese males. The music seems too generic though of the typical Asian male demographic.

Your best chance would have been ED/SCEA. Did you apply anywhere early? The chances in the RD round are very very tough.

Your accomplishments in swimming might give you a boost over other high-stat Asian American male STEM students. Make sure your essays and short answers are perfect.
