I asked my AP Lang and Gov teachers to write them for me, and they were both tipping points for me in my career aspirations. I know them both very well and feel confident they wrote well about me.
Essays:
Short Essay: I wrote about how Teen Court changed my perspective about the Justice System and recounted a specific case where I defended an undocumented immigrant from driving without a licence
Essay 1: I wrote an essay about how my relationship with my father and his Venezuelan nationalism developed over time, as well as how even though he raised me to become an engineer like him I ended up taking after his obsession with talking about the crisis in Venezuela.
Essay 2 (SFS): I wrote about the migrant and economic crisis in Venezuela and proposed a solution around how the UAE and Norway have systems to protect against sudden drops in oil prices
Notes:
I’m a first generation Venezuelan Immigrant
My Interview lasted 2 hours, and I feel as though it went really well, we talked about Washington DC and Georgetown for quite a while, and I treated it more like an informational meeting in the final hour.
Please don’t pull any punches, I know my GPA isn’t the best and that me not having any leadership positions kinda hurts me, but I hope I’m fine enough to be competitive. I’d love to go to Georgetown as it’s my #1 choice as I want to work in Latin America as a Diplomat.
