I am a two sport varsity athlete in track and basketball. I am also Lebanese and am fluent in Arabic, English, and working on Italian.

Chance me (please) for:
George Washington U
U Delaware
Villanova U (top school)
Syracuse U
American U
Fordham U
Elon U

Intended major: Undecided, but leaning towards political science

SAT and GPA are both on the low low side. Low chances.

You have a shot. Fordham even accepted students with 1750s.

Students accepted with a 1750 probably had extenuating circumstances- URM, legacy, athlete, etc. With a low gpa you most likely would need well over a 1900 to have a shot.

Its more complex than that, I believe. Assuming the OP/applicant is in the RD pool. Fordham had record applications this year. That is the bad news. The good news is that they are recruiting minorities heavily. Being Lebanese American who speaks Arabic, that is a huge plus. Did you apply to Lincoln Center? Or Rose Hill? The admissions stats at both campuses are reportedly the same…but Lincoln Center has far fewer slots open for residential students (cf. commuters). Many more dorms and dorm space at Rose Hill.

You are on the bubble with your gpa. Can it happen? Yes. But its going to be tough. Likely rejected or waitlisted? Not necessarily.

But the REAL question is where do you want to go? Is Villanova your top choice? Why so? Where is Fordham on that list? You have good choices for your list of colleges, and some good acceptances so far. Nobody there I think is bad for you. But where is Fordham in your list? Is it what you really want? Or are you collecting acceptance letters?

Hang in there. Good luck.

villanova is my number one choice because of its prestigious academics and a good distance from home (2 hours). fordham is my 4th choice of the ones im watiing on following nova, gwu, and elon.

oh, and i applied to rose hill

I think you are in trouble at Villanova and GWU. Elon is a good chance. I happen to like Elon a lot. Fine school, gorgeous campus and really nice people. Employers like those kids…they work hard and don’t come in the door with attitude.

Fordham? On the bubble. But…like I said before, you have some interesting qualities, you took a lot of AP’s (good for you), and its possible that the admissions committee may give you a chance. Rose Hill is awesome by the way. I wish Fordham was higher on your list.

Weird things happen in college admissions every day. Its the nature of the beast.

You will know all of the above by this time next Friday. Good luck next week.

Being fluent in Arabic and working on Italian may help you with Elon but otherwise your GPA / SAT would likely keep you out, but they love the smart and unique and do a lot of community service… Best of luck, I think you have a shot but it’s tough this year.

Congratulations !!! Great for you !!!

honestly elon would be my number 1 if it werent for the distance. im from ny and i see my self wanting to come home for a weekend and that would be virtually impossible because i would need a plane

Elon has lots of NYer’s on campus. You wont be alone. Some of them have cars to drive home and will give you a ride.

Its a great school. Wonderful, wonderful people.

Congrats.

Now wait on Fordham and see what they do.

i got into delaware

“Honestly elon would be my number 1 if it werent for the distance. im from ny and i see my self wanting to come home for a weekend and that would be virtually impossible because i would need a plane”

Just so you know more than 30% of Elon students come from your area so you will be in good company. My S is in NY/NJ this week on spring break visiting several of his Elon classmates.

Hey idk if you’ve gotten a decision from Fordham yet but I got in with 1720 sat and 3.3 wieghted gpa and I had no ap classes… No legacy or anything either… So I’d say you def have a shot

^are u serious? wow.
i got rejected EA with a 1890 sat, 30 act, and 3.0 unweighted gpa. your extracurriculars are probably better than mine though

trust me i was totally surprised…and no my EC’s aren’t consistent i was always switching from year to year…like i literally had nothing special about my app…the only thing that might have slightly set me apart might have been a rec letter my boss from work wrote…but honestly idk its a miracle really … i am just a statistical anomaly lol

It could also have something to do with your location. If you’re from an underrepresented area you have much better chances of admission. It’s also easier for commuters to be accepted than residents, especially for Lincoln Center.
