Chance me, I promise ill chance back

Cambridge(UK)
Yale
MIT
Dartmouth
Carnegie Mellon
Boston University
NYU
University Of St. Andrews(UK)
University Of Toronto

Black Male
Middle class
Not a very competitive high school.

UW: 3.83
W:4.61
Rank: 7/711
AP:World History: 5
Environmental Sci: 5
Planning: Calculus BC, Chemistry, Statistics, Physics B, Physics C: Mechanics and E&M, Calculus AB. (All self study)

EC'S:Nat Honor Society, French Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta(math), Philosophy Club, Science Society, and Quiz League. I spent this summer in Cambridge(UK) taking Physics and I plan to do the same in the next two summers. I'm also working in a soup kitchen and shelter this school year. Plus some other stuff for IB.

I got a 240 on the PSAT,doesnt count for anything :(

Any other schools I should apply to?

EC’s are decent but not great, as is your GPA. What grade are you in and where are your test scores? I’m guessing that if you have 2200+ SAT, Dartmouth and CMU are both in range and Yale, MIT, and Cambridge are only slight reaches. NYU is in for sure.

Outstanding chances for all of the above!

I’m a rising junior at this point, forgot to add that.

Cambridge(UK)- high reach. they only accept like 50 americans each year.
Yale- reach
MIT-reach
Dartmouth- slight reach
Carnegie Mellon-high match
Boston University-match
NY- match
University Of St. Andrews(UK)- no idea sorry
University Of Toronto- slight reach/ match

You seem to have a good GPA if you can keep it up. URM helps a lot here. PSAT gives you scholarships. and Id say aply to all an youll get at least 4 acceptances.

chance back

“Cambridge(UK)- high reach. they only accept like 50 americans each year.”

Try 10…on a good year.

from what I know of toronto, you have a very good chance,
St Andrews looks very holistically(spelling?) at your app, as opposed to weighing your GPA or SAT heavily.
All I know about Cambridge is that there was a year a few years back when they only accepeted 3 americans.
Carnegie Mellon is a high match
Yale and MIt are reaches
BU and NYU match/in
chance back?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736144-chance-upcoming-senior-my-school-picks.html</a></p>

I think you should get into CMU, BU, and NYU. As far as MIT, Yale, and Dartmouth; you never know. The chances of getting into these colleges is a crapshoot. And as far as Cambridge, St. Andrews, and Toronto; I’m not sure about their international admissions. Sorry about that!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/752367-chance-me-engineering-colleges.html</a></p>

Maybe I’m being pessimistic, but I’m not sure about Cambridge, Yale, MIT and Dartmouth with your GPA (UW; my school doesn’t measure with weighted that much). Not that it’s not good–it’s a really decent GPA–but these ivies and HYPSM schools are /really/ tough to get into, particularly Cambridge, Yale, and MIT, I’d say. So:

Cambridge(UK) - reach
Yale - major reach for anyone!
MIT - quite a reach
Dartmouth - reach/low reach
Carnegie Mellon - match?
Boston University - match/low match
NYU - match

I don’t know the other two schools, sorry! But also, you didn’t post your SAT scores! They’re very important, of course, but there’s no cutoff line. Based on your PSAT, you should do pretty well.

Good luck!

I don’t now if its helps, but the reason my GPA is so low is because I had some problems in my freshman year. Since then, I’ve gotten nothing below a 98 on my report cards, so my GPA should be higher when I actually apply.

God I envy your profile, but what’s your SAT/ACT
You can also strengthen your Ec. Apart from that I think your GPA is strong.
