Chance me :) - I'll chance back!

Huah, finally done with all the applications and waiting for decisions to come. Hopefully I'll get into any one of the schools I applied.

Recommendations
- College counselor: should be descent. quite well known for
- Physics teacher: supposedly excellent, considering that he called me one of the 3 best students he's ever had
- Math teacher: should be excellent as well.
Essays - normal to good range? idk :p

ECs - my weak spot. Math club chair, service trips, chorus, yearbook, etc..... but not so impressive.

List of colleges applied in alphabetical order
- Carnegie Mellon University
- Harvey Mudd College (ED II)
- Occidental College
- University of California, Berkeley
- University of California, Los Angeles
- University of Illionis, Urbana Champaign
- University of Maryland, College Park
- University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
Physics major for all

Funny how my three and a half years of my high school life can be summarized into this.
Will be so glad if I get into HMC, but oh well, I don't think I have that much of a good chance.
I've just read a thread by a Korean student who got in ED I and another thread by a Korean who has a better stats.
Considering HMC only has 1 or 2 students per country, I'm half given up and half dreaming for the impossible.

Any chances on the colleges?

hmm I’m not that familiar with ur grading system, I can only give opinions on the UC cuz i’m applying there too :). according to ur SAT u should have a good chance at LA and B  and i think 98.125/100 UW is wat ur talking about. If it is, u should be fine even with weaker EC.

Chance back please
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/846192-what-my-chances-ucs-csu.html

It is 98.123/100 and I am sorry for the lack of information. On individual subjects except a few, I received grades that were within top four percent at the school and on the pre-SAT nationally as well. I do not know how my rank goes for the average grades though :frowning: but I was well within top 5 students at school I believe.

Looks good, but I have noticed that unweighted and weighted gpa’s are same?
does this indicate that you are afraid of taking hard courses? if it is so this might hurt a bit.

On 10th grade, I was on “exchange program” and therefore was not quite allowed to take hard courses by the school :stuck_out_tongue:
I transferred to a private school and took 2 AP classes on my junior year and got straight As on all of the courses. Would it hurt a lot even though it is only for the 10th grade?

Is it really match for Harvey Mudd? As much as I’d love to know that it is, I do realize how competitive it is.

Wow- you have an impressive course load. That makes up for what you claim as a slight lack in ECs. Good SATs and SAT IIs too.

Carnegie Mellon University - high match

Harvey Mudd College (ED II) - match

Occidental College - match

University of California, Berkeley - low reach

University of California, Los Angeles - low reach, high match (but not as reachy as Berk)

University of Illionis, Urbana Champaign - match

University of Maryland, College Park - match

University of Michigan, Ann Arbor - match

Thanks for the confidence boosting chance. I really challenged myself this year and I feel like I’ll drop everything once I get into any college. lol.

Wow nice stats. Your EC’s are ok but I think your academic achievements make for that for sure. I believe you’ll get in the school of your choice.

Thanks for chancing me btw ;)

nice course load, and your EC is okay, but if you can convey your enthusiam for them you should be ok. your AP and SAT II score are pretty good. I’d say match on all of them except two low reaches, which are UCB and UCLA. Good Luck! ^-^

Um…
UC Berkeley: low reach
Carnegie Mellen: match
Only really familiar with these two, so can’t say for the rest…

You have ok EC, though your grades, AP and SAT II scores make up for it. Only thing is it would’ve been nice to have a few leadership positions.

------------------------- Thnx everyone. chanced back -----------------------------

Oh I didn’t see u were out of state >.<. I’ve heard rumors that the UC is letting more out of state students in since the UCs r poor but iono :P. So maybe u have a better chance on the UCs :D

wow is that so? excellent! they’ll really like me for not applying FA then :)

wow. looks like we have a bunch of people on here saying that HMC is a match.

if HMC is a match, UCB is a safety. HMC is more difficult to get into than UCB, period.
