Chance me (in general)

As a sophomore in high school, I know this post comes a little early. Long story short, I tend to be anxious and would just like to know what others think my chances may be over the long haul. Having a little piece of mind and some hope, if applicable, might help me stay motivated and such.

I am a white female.

Current academic stats:
4.27 cumulative gpa (weighted)
4.43 gpa (weighted, this semester)
4.00 (out of 4.00) unweighted gpa
Practice tests put me at a 2000-2100 SAT (I'm working very hard to improve this, because I know I can and need to)
Top 1% of my class (6/854)
Taken AP Government, AP Macroeconomics, and AP Psychology. I've yet to test on the former two, and received a 4 on the latter (first AP test, much more familiar with that sort of environment now.)

Courses for junior year:
AP Physics, AP Computer Science, AP Statistics, AP Microeconomics, AP English Language & Composition, Honors Precalculus, French III

Courses for senior year:
AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, AP US History, AP World History, AP Calculus AB, AP English Literature & Composition, French IV.

Extracurriculars/Awards:
Volunteered in an administrative position at a local relief organization, still volunteer as a food bank assistant.
Volunteer at the State Museum.
Ranked 2nd in the nation in a prominent aeronautical engineering competition.
Ranked 4th in the region and champion of my school (~5000 students) for the Stock Market Game.
Recognized at the state/central east coast region in robotics competitions.
Submitted the winning lab experiment proposal for the NASA Zero Gravity Lab at my school.
Competitor this year in the Odyssey of the Mind challenge also sponsored by NASA (results pending).
Won a regional award for achievements/ambitions in computing, national all-around finalist in an independent merits competition.

Additionally, I'm currently working on securing a research opportunity for this summer. I wasn't age eligible for Caltech SSP, but I desperately want to apply next year. Also looking into applying for RIS and the Lackson Laboratory SSP next year as well, and the Intel Talent Search in 12th grade (trying to start building my research background now so that I have a good leg to stand on). Research is one of the biggest reasons why I would love to end up at a tier 1 school.

I don't know, guys, getting into a great college feels impossible. It's almost as if everyone expects you to be perfect without even trying. I mean, MIT must get applications from people with 4.0s, perfect SAT scores, and gold medals from the IPhO. The college admissions process feels like Mt. Everest to me.

what’s your target though? ivy league? UC’s? LAC’s? What about your intended major? If you give some basic info, then maybe CC can help you!

Looking at the Ivy Leagues + MIT + Caltech. I would love UCs, but it’s too expensive as an OOS student. The financial aid offered elsewhere is better, unfortunately.

Potential major in some sort of engineering or physics.

considering it’s the ivy leagues, it going to be REALLY hard with those stats. i suggest you do not slip below a GPA of 3.8 UW until the end of senior year, and bring your SAT’s to at least 2200 for a minor chance, 23000 for a solid chance! and keep up your EC’s, try to get leadership positions, and gain lots of experience!

I hold leadership positions in all of the team activities I am involved in, plus some of the volunteering as well.

Ivys are really hard with any stats, I know that.

I’m not worried about my gpa slipping, I’m very eager to take the courses I listed. Motivation is biggest piece of the pie, and also an advantage of mine.

ur in great shape
get that sat up to2300+
and ur good to go for at least cornell
