Thanks guys

bro u honestly have good chances at all of them
I’m straight up mirin that 790 lit (I got a 2390 but a 760 on lit, lit’s the real deal)

…please just shut up
you’re a URM with a 2300 and a supposedly “superb” essay…lol dw guaranteed at harvard

I’m not lying if that’s what your insinuating? If I was, why am I admitting I have such a poor GPA.

My essays are good, because I put a lot of work into them, and this “Chance Me” is an assumption that they are.

You find it so hard to believe a Black kid can better than you on the SAT or something? Clearly your hinting at that

pretty sure the implication was that you’re worrying over nothing. and why do you assume he/she was attacking your race? insecure much?

pretty sure the implication was I’m lying.

Plus having a 3.3 is something to worry when applying to Ivy Leagues and they turn down 2400s. Especially HYP

m8 wasnt being racist or anything. sorry if i sounded like that but i was just trying to say that you have a great chance of getting into an ivy league or any other top tier school because of the fact that you are a URM with a 2300 sat score despite your 3.3 gpa. what i was emphasizing was you shouldn’t be worrying. besides your ec’s look pretty extensive too.

HYPS - HIGH Reach (always are)
Cornell - High match
University of Virginia - Match
UCLA - Match
USC - Match
UC Berkley - High match
NYU - Match
Vanderbilt - Low reach
Duke - Reach
Miami U - Safety

ONLY CAUSE YOU’RE BLACK.

Populist --

Honest opinion - for someone like you, this Board is a horrible place to go for advice. Sometimes it’s ok for people whose stats fall into familiar patterns, but, that’s not you. The question you’re asking is will the combination of your URM status and Through the roof SATs offset a GPA which would eliminate most students.

Unless a school eliminates you entirely it really will come down to the specific policies at each institution.

Sorry, I can’t be more help here, good luck.

i say low chances for all, you only have a good SAT, everything else isn’t very good

Huh, chance thread quality is falling like no other…

Anyway, despite what CC will try to push to you, GPA matters. A lot (unfortunately both for you and me, if you look at my stats). So does rank.

If you are concerned that all of this is BS (which you should be concerned about), check out the acceptance and rejection posts (w/ stats) on the HYP and other ivy subforums. Nearly everyone <3.9 or <10% of class is rejected. That’s because they have applications that are “perfect” (along with awesome ECs) across the board.

I know several people with 2300+ SATs, law firm internships, research experience, etc. (all in one person, btw) that did not make it into a single ivy.

You also do not have amazing ECs (a governmentally recognized nonprofit is simply filling out a 501c3 application and waiting for results to arrive, nothing more, nothing less).

So, I’d put you at a high reach for all of them (low reach for Cornell). But, you never know, your ethnicity will help.

People here really believe elite colleges will overlook a low GPA bc race and a good SAT score?
Lawl

OP, don’t be fooled pls. You’ll be competing with other blacks with high scores AND GPAs. One test cannot remedy four years of “carelessness.”
Good luck, though.

yep

race can :)

A black kid with a 2300? Ugh, how I envy you. You are an admissions god. Goodluck!

Ugh. Full of it.

Dear Pop Hero: Now you know that once you open the race card window all sorts will crawl in and do you harm. It’s up to you but my advice is to always keep the window closed.

idk in what world are the op’s ECs bad enough to criticize.

i’m pming you my response btw

@alexiss i rmb u from a results thread. u were the one arguing so passionately that URM gives you no advantage whatsoever in admissions.

i would like say you are spitting diarrhoea out of your mouth. URM so does give you a huge advantage. you should check out the duke or upenn class of 2016 results thread where a native american got in with a 1760 SAT with not so stellar ec’s. as well as the many black applicants in comparison to the asians. I am assuming you yourself are URM which is why you’re being so defensive

If your goal is truly to get into an ivy league school, I don’t doubt that you could do it. You are certainly in a unique position.

@corrinder
I argued that it is not the sole reason for admission. It pains me that morons like yourself and others here suggest one can be practically auto admitted to H based upon an SAT score and race. You say this with a hint of bitterness because you believe your race to be a disadvantage so I’m going to assume you’re a non URM. More specifically, an angry white or Asian who measures his/her self worth via a standardized test and is shocked and saddened that what he/she sees as underqualified applicant has gained admission to his/her dream school and “stolen” his/her rightful place or the place of his/her’s friend. Obv bc URM, amirite?
Have a nice day.
