*WithU(family project)- an ongoing project started by me with the help of my parents. We collected ingredients needed to make hand sanitizers(alchol in form of spirt and etc) from over 10 small scale dental clinics which were forced to close during the corona pandemic and produced 1000 bottles of 50 ml hand sanitizers which was given to needed people using the local rotary clubs. Plans to make masks are going on with the help of the members of my residential community.

  • External affairs incharge -9 and 11

*Interact club president- school based community service clubs. Major activities include collecting funds during kerala floods, dengu awareness campaign (150 people participation) and volunteer to an autism home.

*debate club president

*tech club vice president -9, 10, 11,12- an after school club which designs, creates and updates school app and website. We also program school based software like software needed for school elections. We also participate in many competitions.

*Worked at my father’s dental clinic as receptionist whenever needed for all 4 years

*Played soccer for all 4 years in the boys team since there was no girls team. Couldn’t participate in any competitions but tagged along as the boys team’s manager.

i am very much interested in Wharton school (Upenn) so please chance for it.

Hi!

Unfortunately, your chances at Wharton are near zero. This isn’t because you’re not a qualified applicant; I can tell that you’ve been dedicated to your extracurriculars and academics.

However, you have no testing scores. Your grades aren’t outstanding. Your stats are pretty good, but for an international applicant, they have to be so much higher. Your ECs need big awards that are recognizable to the AOs. International students are held to a much higher standard.

Lastly, I really hate to bring anyone down, but the reason why you will not have a chance at Wharton is because you are low-income. There are institutions that are need-blind to international applicants, but they’re rare and Wharton isn’t one of them. Unless you can pay full tuition (and probably donate a little, too), Wharton will probably not even consider you.

These schools need full-pay international students to cover for the tuition of aid-receiving students (and other things, too). If you cannot pay the full amount of tuition, your chances are near or at zero.

Same thing applies. If your parents cannot afford the full cost of attendance comfortably (around $80,000) then your chances at these schools are pretty much zero.

Harvard and a few other schools are need-blind to international applicants. Wharton is not. Most schools aren’t.

Disagree with this, you don’t need big awards to be recognized by AOs. Conversely, having big awards don’t guarantee you to a top college. Academics and ECs are OK, and if you can attain your projected scores that’s a big plus.

However, I agree with the low income part. Most of international applicants’ decision statuses are basically decided by income. If you can’t afford most/all of the tuition, then you’re in trouble

Agree with both of the posts above in that your chances have been lowered significantly by asking for financial aid, and that the Ivy League is a long shot.
Also, based on the writing in your original post, I would highly recommend starting to work on your college essays. A free and helpful guide to the essay process is called Hack the College Essay by John Dewis. It probably saved my application, and if you use it right it could save your application to USC and UMiami.

You have a good profile.
But you need to have scores.

How can you be a daughter of a dentist who owns his own clinic, and yet be low income? $5K per year is a modest amount of money and will not be enough.

Go online to the colleges website and calculate your EFC. If it is greater than what your parents say ($5K) then turn your sights to other colleges which are more affordable. According to colleges, this means that your parents have the means to pay, but for whatever reason are not able to.

The handful of need blind colleges for international students will be out of reach. There are a handful of students from India who get into the Ivies each year, often on a full ride. But these students have some outstanding stats and stories (ie Malala Yousafzhai, etc).
