Chance Me? Johns Hopkins(ED), Cornell, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCSB, UCI, Emory, St. Louis Washington, Duke

anyone else want to give brutally honest feedback on my chances at these universities?

I think you have a great shot to any of those schools. Your GPA isn’t the most competitive, but you have the ECs to back it up. Granted, you are the typical piano playing, debating Asian, but a very strong applicant nonetheless. If your essays really are 6-7/10, then you might want to work on them. Your essays are what separate you from the millions of Asians with quasi-perfect scores (if not perfect) and the typical ECs you guys seem to be drawn to, no offense. You have a very good chance, though. Good luck!

Your scores are very good and your ECs are extremely impressive. Your gpa is obviously the weakest point but hopefully your essay can overshadow that. I think your ECs will give you the edge that you need. Good luck!

@Salutation thanks for your help!

The UCs are reaches if you are not a resident of California(Something having to do with taxes) but residents take a lot of the spots. If you are a resident of California I think that you would have a really good shot at UCLA. I don’t know much about the other schools but overall you seem like a well rounded student. But honestly all that extracurricular stuff would look impressive to any of the colleges and I would expect for them to compensate for your GPA. Really stress your ECs and explain why your GPA is a bit low. Good luck:))

If you’re applying for college of Letters&Science in the UC’s (which you are), it doesn’t matter what major you apply for because they don’t consider your major when admitting you. You declare your major after freshman year anyways. So, with that said, you’ll get into the UC’s because they accept people with a range of scores and stats, and the admission process isn’t as selective as engineering, where you need high scores and outstanding EC’s

I don’t know a lot of these schools, but you’re stats make me think you’re getting in anywhere! :slight_smile:

Thanks so much for the help everyone!

anyone else?

Your GPA is on the lower side for the top UCs but other than that, I think you will have a long list of colleges to choose from with all your superb EC’s. If you write a great essay, you can arguably get into all of the UC’s, in my opinion.

Your GPA is a little on the low side, but you honestly have outstanding ECs and if you can write a stellar essay, I’m sure these schools will be in reach for you, like JHU and Cornell. UCLA/UCB focus a lot on GPA but it is also holistic, so have hope. Good luck!

I am so sorry! I completely forgot to chance you!

JHU ED - I would say you are in. Awesome stats! (Do you have any CR tips?)
Cornell, Duke, WashU - Low Reaches
UCLA, Emory - High Matches (only because of UC GPA - otherwise you are ok)
UCSD - I think in.
UCD, UCI - safeties

Good Luck! I think you are at a good position! Seriously though, if you have any tips on CR tell me! I really wanna know!
