Chance Me- Johns Hopkins International

Hey!!

I am an international student from India and i will be applying to JHU for the fall 2018 semester. I come from a suburban school which didn’t have many activities that interested me and no clubs at all. But I still managed to participate in as many as i could.

My stats are:-

-> GPA:- We do not have a GPA system but I had a 10/10 in my 10th grade and 88% (which is top 10% in the nation) in class 12th.

-> SAT:- 1370/1600 (retaking in Oct and aiming for a 1530+)

-> SAT II :- 800/800 in Physics, Math 1 and Math 2

-> AP:- Physics C: Mechanics (5/5)
E&M (4/5)
Calculus BC (4/5)
(we didn’t have any AP classes/tests at our school so i had to take them externally)
-> ECs and Awards :- Got to the second level in National Science Olympiad and International Mathematics Olympiad. Won the first prize for my robot in school science exhibition. Won another robotics competition conducted by a local institute. Was the captain of my house. Won third prize in a drama competition conducted by school. Appreciation letter by human resource department minister of india for my grades in 10th grade. AP honors award.

-> Besides all this, i like to read a lot. Also i know some stuff about arduino and raspberry pie. Speedcubing and photoshopping also are some of the ways i spend my time. Although i dont know even if all these can be proved are important at all.

Please chance me for ED at Johns Hopkins University. Major:- Computer Science/ Electronics Engineering.

You went to the IMO, but got a 4 for Calc BC… How did you that happen lol. Anyway, If you went to the IMO and don’t mean the second level in the Mathematical Olympiad in your country to select the IMO team, your chances have just increased dramatically (pun intended (get it? drama competition xD)). A letter of recommendation from a minister is great! That’ll help a lot, too.

If the above is true (IMO especially), your chances seem decent, although JHU is a reach for many. I’d advise you to apply to multiple univerisities though, not only to JHU. If your financial situation is not the greatest, you could get a fee waiver for your applications and get a full ride at universities like HYPSM etc. Also, applying to the University of Chicago is completely free if you apply for financial aid (they meet your full (demonstrated) financial need).

Good luck with your application!

Lol I love puns :)) :)) .

Well IMO that i took was the one organized by some Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), which i am sure isnt the one you assumed to be. And yeah what all i have written is 100% true.

As for the fee waiver, my counselor had said that he will make sure i get the common application fee waiver. UChicago is on my list but I think it is way out of my league. I am applying to like 15 universities out of which 7 are dream, 6 are reach and 2 are safety. I know the numbers are odd but these are the only ones with good aid.
