Chance me maybe.

I am international student applying to :
Columbia
NYU(CAS)
UCLA
UC Berkeley
UChicago
Brown
Dartmouth
UPenn (CAS)
Yale
Johns Hopkins
UT Austin
I’ve already been accepted by Minnesota Twin-Cities and UIUC for Mathematics , which is my intended major for all these uni’s
My Creds :
GPA : All A’s and many A+'s
SAT : 1440/1600
EC’s:
Raised quite a lot of funds for an NGO trying to build a cancer hospital
Shotput city wide competitions participation and many medals in inter school awards
Many interschool math competitions ( Head of Team)
Started my own Book CLUB in school

Also my LOR’s are great according to my teachers .
My common app essays, according to my guidance counselor, is unique and stellar . Consider the same quality for all other uni’s supplement .

So what re my chances to get into any one of them for Mathematics as my major.

What is your specific GPA?

My school doesn’t give out GPA’s although I have the highest grade possible in all my subjects .

Take it to be 4.0(Unweighted) because I can’t get any higher .

Someone ? … Anyone ?

You have a good chance for NYU. For the Ivy schools, it’s a definite reach (though it is for everyone). A 1500+ SAT would up your chances a bit.

If you’re applying as a math major, it’s going to be relatively difficult. What are your math-related awards and classes?
A lot of potential math majors (especially for top schools) have AIME/USAMO qualifications, have taken Mulitvariable calc/linear algebra before college, and won many regional-state level math awards.

I am from a curriculum that does not allow for any material to be studied except the stuff that is in our textbook

isn’t it easier to get into as a math major as it quite an under subscribed major and not a forte of many of the schools I listed above .

also I have 800 on my SAT Math 2 and Physics. Not too sure if that’s makes a difference

Assuming you are non-URM, the ivies and UChicago are high reaches for you, imo there is a rather small chance you will get into any of them. (The issue is your SAT imo). Hopkins, Berkeley are also reaches but a tad more attainable. Id say you are a match for NYU, UCLA.

Thanks

And would my major increase my chances to get into Dartmouth (where math is not so famous) ?

and also would I have a good chance at UMichigan ?
Cause I am thinking of applying there too.

Even if your school’s curriculum doesn’t cover more advanced courses, could you possibly find these college-level courses online somewhere? Regardless of major choice, these top schools really want to see that you’re intellectually curious and that you want to truly pursue your intended field of study. Math-related awards (IMO medals??)/extra courses are a good way to show that.

On a side note, UMich would be more of a target school: but since you’re international, your chances are even harder… good luck

Being an ORM and an international student along with the low SAT scores, really hurts your chances at all these top 30 schools

I forgot to add the fact that I don’t need any financial aid and that I have National Level Honor for excellence in academics which I got in 10th grade (sophomore )

According to what I have seen NYU doesn’t really release there stats, but from what I have heard the average UW GPA is a 3.70 and the average SAT is a 1420, so id say NYU is a solid match.

I don’t think ORM is a word. That would mean Over-Represented Minority lol. @GreenPoison plus a 1440 is not low, I guess for most of the ivy league schools it is, but not for NYU and some of the others.

@u1whope

Look at his username. And if you are going to use the acronym URM, then ORM also works. Any overrepresented minority group in US top colleges, such as Chinese or Indian, counts as ORM.

A 1440 is fairly low for an international student.
