looking at SFS

omgzzzz!!! of course you will make georgetown! no one wants you to fail at life!!!

grow some self-confidence kid.

IMO, extremely good chances considering your strength of schedule, SAT I & SAT II, EC's as well as your URM status. Good Luck!

bump.......

perhaps you should major in drama. haha just kidding.

No I'm not too sure I'm drama person. But thanks for the advice.

Your test scores are certainly very strong, as is your GPA. You have a very strong chance. Good luck!

your ECs are good, and everything else is very strong. I think you have a very good chance for g-town..it's just that SFS has weird standards so you never know

Given your stats (and knowing nothing more), I think you have a good chance at SFS or any other university in the US, including HYPS. Good luck!

as the others have said, you're strong, but the title of your thread is a bit unsettling...there are TONS of good schools out there..widen your focus!

your senior year course load isnt particularly rigorous

bumparooni

I'm a current student at GU and also from Georgia. I'd like to say that your numbers are pretty good...but the C?....i guess if its an aberration its fine.

My first advice to you concurs with those who have posted before me. GU is an amazing university, but not alone in its stature. Broaden your horizons. If you get in, awesome!

You can never guarentee admission to places like GU, but I wish you good luck!

PS In the interview, mention the Hoyas....basketball never fails....that is if you didn't apply early...or mention it in a letter to your admissions officer in the case that you're deferred.

GO HOYAS!!!

back up to the top

you listen to lupe fiasco... don't you...

I don’t remember Georgetown asking for race on the application, but I am an Asian- American with some African in me (my great grandmother is South African).

I attend prep school in Miami, FL. My school has sent many kids to Georgetown in recent years, and in the past as well.

My school does not send out rankings but I am ranked 19th out of 201 students.

SAT: 2060, 720 Writing, 690 Math, 650 Reading

ACT: Took it twice and received a 30 both times, but my highest on each section was 36 reading, 34 writing, 31 math, 28 science. (32 superscored but Georgetown does not superscore).

Essays

Had a strong essay reviewed and approved by an outside counselor about my work in the culture club. Talked about how i set up school wide interfaith days to spread cultural awareness in my school, which is 95% hispanic and 90% catholic. Had a good essay approved and reviewed by an outside counselor about my plans at Georgetown as a bio major and about how I want to be involved in student government as I have leadership experience in culture club and student council in my school. Also explained how I want to do Georgetown’s Early Assurance program for medicine and how I want to do research at GUMC. Also mentioned how I was selected as a social media ambassador for my summer program at Georgetown. Mentioned how I have visited campus three times, stayed in dorms for 2 weeks, and how I cannot see my self anywhere else for the next four years.

Help me please!

Georgetown is my number 1 but I am scared my test scores and grades aren’t good enough to get in. I think I have alot of extracurriculars that are great but I am scared they wont suffice for my okay scores and grades. Being Asian, nothing is for sure, but I am hoping they take into account that my great grandmother is South African. I truly would have applied ED if they offered it. Also, I am getting a letter from a friend who is on the Board of Regents at Georgetown and he personally knows the dean, Charles Deacon. He is writing the letter to the dean himself. However, the only problem is that he is sending the letter this week. Decisions have probably been made by now so I don’t know how much weight the letter will have on my application. My grades aren’t that high and I got 6 ** and 1 C in four years because I took the hardest classes possible, which I hope georgetown realizes. Right now I take AP Chem, Honors Ignatian Spirituality, Honors Latin American History, AP English Literature, AP Calculus AB, AP Environmental Science, Honors Philosophy, and Economics. I have straight As and a 5.5 GPA but I could possibly get two B plusses and drop to a 5.3 roughly if I dont do well on mid terms. I really don’t want to go anywhere else, but I want you all to be honest, what do you think my chances of getting in are?

OP: You’re certainly well qualified for Georgetown. Are you planning to apply to any Ivies or Stanford ?

forgot my subject tests too. they are low which also scares me

Math I: 700
English Lit: 620
Bio: 570

im applied to dartmouth, and i’l apply to cornell if i get deferred from gtown. what do you think my chances are Axelrod? its really my dream school so im so worried :/

Dude…what the heck…“fail at life?” I dont know how to say this nicely, but control yourself. If all these “amazing” application components are just ploys to get into georgetown, then you shouldnt be going. Do things because they interest you…not because you think a school will like them.
