Your SATs are really low for Georgetown, but if you are applying to SFS it could be a killer. Write awesome essays, get your SAT scores up, and don't apply EA. Give yourself some time to make up the SAT scores. You can do it, it'll just take some work. Good luck.

thanks for the response

what is SFS?

There are four schools at Georgetown. The College, your traditional arts & sciences; MSB, the business school; NHS, the health studies school; then SFS, the School of Foreign Service, where all the international studies majors are housed. You apply directly to one of the schools, but transferring inter-schools is very possible.

IR09: "but if you are applying to SFS it could be a killer."

wait, are you saying if I apply to SFS i have a chance even with those low SAT scores? I thought SFS was the hardest to get into?

it makes sense either way to me - I've done a lot of international stuff, am president of 3 major school clubs, including Model UN. (oh yeah i forgot to mention Ive won 2 awards in Model UN at conferences at the Univ. of Ga and got 2nd in a school oratory contest)
I just thought there would be a little more emphasis on academics...if not, that would definitely help me a bit

Thanks a lot

well just look at the ranges.....25th-75% are like 650-740 for both math and CR. So your score puts you in the bottom third. I believe the average is a 1390. While you still have a chance...it is probably lower than people whose SATs are at or above average.
and yes SFS has higher scores so their CR is probably more like 680 or so for the bottom 25th%.

Don't let anyone tell you not to apply EA. Apply EA if Georgetown is your first choice. This way you have two shots at being accepted. Have a good interview, write a killer essay, bring up your SATs.

i just went on the official gtown tour today. they said the acceptance rates for all the undergraduate schools are about the same. however, i think SFS generally gets applicants with more competitive grades/scores/ecs etc. idk if that helps....
