Chance Me - ND Class of 2019 RD

Hey guys. I’m honestly getting pretty anxious about the fact that decisions are coming out soon… so I guess to give me some things to think about in the meantime, I’m asking you guys to look at my stats and give me feedback about where you think I stack up in the ND Class of 2019 RD pool.

Notes to keep in mind:
-My brother is a current student at ND, class of 2017. Other than that, I have zero legacy or anything like that.
-I’m a unique applicant in that I’ve gotten a NROTC scholarship to Notre Dame’s Unit. For those of you who may not know what this is, it’s an officer commissioning program for the Navy; in my case, upon graduation from (hopefully) Notre Dame, I will be commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps (which is part of the Navy, as I’m specifically a Marine Option.) The Navy will pay full undergraduate tuition for me; I just have to pay room and board.
-I was deferred Early Action from Notre Dame, but my SAT at the time was a much lower 1890 (yikes!) versus my current 2130. I retook it in January and dramatically improved my score, happily submitting it to ND. I think the first time I took it, I was sick and couldn’t concentrate (not to make excuses, but I think it justifies why my score would jump so much without doing much prep).

Thanks and here we go!

Reflection

Strengths: They may be impressed I won the NROTC scholarship as a Marine Option, because it’s very selective to get a scholarship from USMC; not just anyone will receive them. Also, I’m a leader in my school, through academics, sports, and clubs. I hope ND can see that in my application!
Weaknesses: My test scores aren’t phenomenal, and my grades aren’t perfect; I did get a B in an AP class. So I’m a little nervous.

Other schools I’m looking at: In addition to ND, I got deferred to University of Virginia. If ND doesn’t work out, hopefully I can go there. But my ultimate fallback is Ohio State; I got in there Early Action and received a nice amount of scholarship money. But ND is my first choice and I’m really dying to go there.

Please let me know what you think! Thanks!

You look very competitive. The fact that you got deferred with the low SAT score and raised it so much is encouraging. Good luck!

Very impressive app. I would be surprised if you don’t get accepted!

Thanks for the replies guys! Keeping my fingers crossed

I’m curious as to how you did! You are an outstanding applicant and it’s very evident that you will go far regardless of the college attended!!!

@Homeless2Harvard‌ Haha thank you! I got in and I’m going to ND next year actually  got my acceptance letter yesterday and couldn’t stop jumping up and down. On all the threads here I totally downplayed how much I wanted to go into ND, but it’s seriously been my dream school for so long. I saw you got in as well on the Decisions thread, congratulations! Also, I was extremely impressed with your story. It’s amazing how you were able to achieve so much academically when you faced so many challenges many of us have never had to deal with. Incredible.

@soccergurl10‌ You’re too nice! Thank you so much! And CONGRATULATIONS!!! You deserve this and more! ND is sincerely lucky to have you!

And also for the future, thanks for your service!!!
