Hopefully the folks in the 2023 RD pool and next year’s applicants will find this results thread as helpful as I found prior year’s threads.
Outcome: Accepted
Objective:
SAT I (breakdown): 760 read/write, 800 math
ACT (breakdown): 33 Composite (3 straight times) – never submitted any of the 3
SAT II: 790 math 2, 740 chemistry, 710 lit – did not submit any of these
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.91
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): school doesn’t rank; but in top-9% (based on UC’s eligibility in local context)
AP (place score in parenthesis): 7 tests total – all the usual ones (scored ‘5’ on 6 tests, ‘3’ on 1 test)
IB (place score in parenthesis): N/A
Senior Year Course Load: AP Calc BC, AP Physics, AP Comp/Lit, AP Micro/Macro, Civics course, Spanish IV (which is absolutely killing me), sports teams
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Doubtful these qualify as “major” but… National Merit commendation, some AP Scholar certificate, NHS, Calif Scholarship Federation, All-League 1st team Cross Country & Track & Field, and just “team-based” Robotics stuff, won the Juniors overall title in 2-man beach volleyball at a fairly major SoCal event
Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):
Varsity cross country and track and field (all 4 years CC, final 3 years Track) (not captain); Robotics (Section lead); Online school newspaper (sports editor); competitive beach volleyball (juniors-level only, not the top-flight level)
Volunteer/Community service:
Support group leader (4 yrs); church-related volunteering (vacation bible school, kid’s ministry team lead, 6 yrs); tutor to help kids in an elementary school in a poorer neighborhood improve their reading & writing (4 yrs).
Summer Activities:
Spent the last 2 summers as a high school intern working in the Athletic Department of a large Pac-12 Conference school. Really really cool environment, but my role was mundane stuff. I can operate a printer and run the copy machine like you would not believe. (Also played in competitive beach volleyball tourneys for fun.)

Reflection
Strengths: SAT, AP test scores are strong, and I sold the summer job in the college athl. dept as a unique experience
Weaknesses: leadership pretty much lacking
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: See strengths above
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I spent a lot of time on all the essays – felt they were strong
Where do you expect you will attend and why? ND or maybe Vanderbilt, UC Berkeley, or UCLA
General Comments: just really appreciate the people on the ND board on College Confidential. Very supportive group of parents and students. Guessing that it speaks to the types of folks ND attracts.
