Please allow me to apologize if I misinterpreted, “Alabama has a sizable Jewish population and the NMF money is insane. Check out Bloom Hillel”, as suggesting Alabama.
I certainly didn’t mean to misconstrue, take out of context or disparage anyone.
My goal is to ensure CC is a friendly, welcoming and enlightening place but also provide divergent perspectives from those often repeated.
OP- assume you’ve looked at lists like these to review the highest number and percent of Jewish students at some schools, and schools Jewish students choose:
I agree with @AustenNut‘s recommendations. Especially about adding Tulane to your list. It’s quite generous with merit money, and some of my s’s classmates there turned down Ivy League acceptances for the scholarship money they received. My s turned down Emory for Tulane in part because of the very large merit scholarship (with the NMF money given on top of that) he received. You should consider adding U of F to your list as well. Good luck.
As a Poli Sci major who’s interested in Pomona, have you also considered Claremont McKenna? Government is one of their strongest and most popular majors, and you’d have access to Pomona (and Pitzer/Scripps/Mudd) classes as well. Also in SoCal, how about USC? With the NMF money (either half-tuition or possibly full-tuition) it could end up cheaper than a UC, and it certainly meets the strong-Jewish-life criterion.
Have you considered WashU? Definitely critical mass there in terms of Jewish life.
As everyone else has already said, your qualifications are great and you could get into any of these schools. Good luck!
