Chance me Northeastern 2024!

Hi! I’ll be applying ED.

ACT: 33, retaking in October.
UW gpa: 3.34 W gpa: 3.57 - it’s low :frowning: BUT my junior year gpa was 3.6 UW, 4.3 W - a big increase from my 3.3 freshman gpa and 3.1 sophomore gpa. During my junior/soph years, my grandmas were both ill all year and passed away in spring. I feel that this attributed to a drop in grades in soph year. However, in junior year, although my other grandma passed away too, I was able to keep my grades up.
AP Lang scored 5, APUSH - 4, AP Studio Art - 4, AP Chinese - 5 (took test not class since heritage speaker), junior year took honors math

Senior year, I’m taking AP Lit, AP art, and AP Calc AB.

Will be submitting an arts supplement.

Good at xc/tf - may be recruited (i’m good enough for bad D1 programs and good D3s) but I still have to talk to the NEU coach cuz procrastinating  .

ECs: nearly 250 hours service through: 4+ years taking care of toddlers/kids from disadvantaged families while mothers learn job skills/work, 2 years teaching English at an orphanage in China (speaking Chinese there), 1 year serving on a national charity’s student leadership board, senior year serving on school’s community service/engagement council, provided online tutoring for disadvantaged kids in my area through a nonprofit once a week for junior and senior year.
Job/internship experience: Summer job (paid) at my school’s summerschool being a teacher’s assistant for 3-5 graders, ongoing internship since end of junior year at my city’s history museum.

I really appreciate your reading this! If you know of any other colleges that I might be more suited to, lmk!

I imagine the coach has already had recruiting trips so you should get in touch with them as soon as possible.

I would say you have a shot at Northeastern. Your GPA is the only thing really holding you back. Colleges care a lot less about the GPA of recruited athletes tho (your GPA still needs to be decently high but yours would make the athlete cutoff). if you want to get recruited you need to get on that because recruited athletes start getting offers and signing letters now basically.
