Chance Me? Northwestern ED, UMich EA, UChicago EA

Hello!
I am a current senior and was stressing out about college apps (who’s not!) and was looking for some feedback, because why not!
I am planning on doing pre-med and most likely a bio major, but would consider other science paths and/or neuroscience.

Essays
8/10- not the best writer, but put a ton of effort into them and had multiple teachers and classmates read them.
ECs
Softball 4 years, multiple volunteer clubs at school including peer tutor, first class leader (program to basically say dont do drugs and be nice to people), and link crew leader (program for teaching freshmen life lessons!), Latin club, traveled to Italy with school (apparently colleges like that stuff?), GEMS (girls in engineering math and science)
Work: Lifeguard over this past summer

****the colleges above are not my only schools, just the ones I’m worried about.
What are your thoughts?

PS: I live in Illinois, so OOS for Umich

For ACT you should be pretty good, it is on the higher end (I don’t think anyone really superscores ACT, but nevertheless 33 is a pretty good score for these schools, maybe a touch low for UChicago). GPA is lower than average for Northwestern and UChicago, not sure about UMich, but the upward trend is good. You haven’t taken a ton of APs, but if it is simply because your school doesn’t offer them then that is understood by colleges. It is good that you worked hard on your essays because those are a very important and controllable component of your application, so having a good essay can surely be a big boost. Your ECs are good but pretty standard, try to emphasize any type of leadership on your application. Also I would try to not put your trip to Italy on your Common App under activities or something like that, but you can definitely mention it in an interview!!

Please chance me back!! Thank you!!!

UChicago is reach, northwestern ed I think you have a good chance, idk about UMich

Umich does not superscore. What is your uwGPA calculated with amd without subgrades? UMich LSA is likely a low reach to reach for you from OOS.

Senior also applying to uChi and NW.

I think uMich is still probably your best chance even though you’re OOS, but I would think that NW is close too. Only one AP before senior year might hurt, but if your school doesn’t offer many schools should be cool with that. Chi is just difficult for anyone so I’d say it’s a reach, but you have good odds at getting into one of NW/uMich.

ACT 33 is around the admission average for NU and UMich. The admission rates for NU is 9% while the OOS admission rate at UMich is ~20%.
