Chance me? NYU Tisch Film/TV

I'm currently a junior in high school. Female/caucasion from suburbs in Michigan

I hope to apply early decision I as tisch is my top choice!

My unweighted GPA (4.0 scale) is a 3.92. My school doesn't have weighted GPAs but I have taken hons bio, hons chem, 2 hons english classes, hons algebra 2, hons precalculus, ap lang, ap us history, ap euro history, ap psych, ap stats, and ap world history. I got a's in all of those classes except for a b+ and c+ in hons precalc sophomore year. I haven't taken the SATs yet but I got a 30 on the act my first time (i'm planning on retaking it so hopefully it gets higher?) Also my school doesn't have rankings so I have no info on that

My ECs include:

-treasurer of student council
-NHS
-varsity swim
-varsity softball
-travel softball
-girl scouts
-choir
-dance
-acolyte (church thing if you're not familiar w/ it)
-theatre
-youth group
-writer for school newspaper
-tutoring
-babysitting
-umpire
-mission trips every summer to help underprivileged children
-300+ community service hours

As far as experience in film/tv is concerned, right now I direct/write/film for a local student run news station as one of my classes, and I will have a film production class 3rd trimester for the same station (yes my school runs on trimesters instead of semesters). I also have taken digital photography 1 & 2, computer graphics, intro & advanced acting, public speaking (not related to film but helpful?), and next year i'm scheduled to take mass media (basically film analysis and production) and film production field study

I'm also submitting a documentary I created to a local film festival so hopefully that works out??

basically I'm in love with television, and I really really want to be a screenwriter or director, but I'm leaning towards screenwriting. I know NYU has a dramatic writing program, but that seems to be more centered around playwriting? Also I'm interested in all aspects of film/tv, so I figured that major would be better suited for me.

Other schools I want to apply to are usc, emerson, boston university, northwestern, and loyola marymount so if you have any thoughts on those, feel free to share.

i’m a junior in high school so i’m probably not the best of help, but it sounds like you’re very well rounded and have a great chance of getting into nyu itself and i think that getting into the tisch school just really depends on your portfolio, but it sounds like you have great skills opportunities to do an awesome job with that. Apparently everyone is supposed to graduate from tisch with a full screenplay, so I’m not sure if it’s really that focused on playwriting, but I can’t be sure. The other schools you’re applying to are also great schools and from my research, USC is more difficult and competitive to get into, but again you seem like you have a great resume and a very fair shot of getting in, so just apply and see I guess! Good luck, I’m sure you’ll be successful!
