Transferring from a CCC
Intended Major: Econ
HS GPA: 3.2
College GPA: 3.5 (19 Units completed this fall, going by quarter system), 13 Units in progress for the winter quarter
EC's/Work Experience: 2 Years of Badminton in High School, Volunteered at AODB for 6 years (Organization which helped raise money for poor parts of my home state in another country), Volunteered at Childrens Pre-school, Volunteered at Rehab Center helping patients there. Worked at a retail store for 2 months so far.

Also 1 question, does Volunteer work count as an EC or..? I'm asking because I'm assuming EC means something that is affiliated with the school but receiving no Academic credit for it. If not where would I put down my volunteer work?

Awesome!

Yes, volunteer work counts as an extracurricular activity. What was your ACT/SAT score?

Act didn’t take (Don’t know if this will hurt me)
SAT’s: In the 1700’s (Yeah I know sad face), I took SAT2 for USH and got 600 if that matters.

Why would NOT taking the ACT’s hurt you? Most schools accept both the ACT and SAT. It is advisable you retake the SAT’s. 1700’s is less than the 25th percentile of accepted NYU students.

Yeah I’d assume that score was on the low end.
The thing other than my EC’s I have going for me is my upward trend of GPA.

Would it be worth it to apply? I don’t want to waste $70 just to get a rejection letter.
I know that I could always wait a year and do Junior Transfer…but thats a year away ahah

I know someone who got in with a 1790 SAT score. It depends a lot on your intended major/school. You should know, though, that if you need financial aid you will most likely receive mostly loans. It can’t hurt to apply, though, unless you are really concerned about the $70.

Also, how can you raise money for poor parts of your home state in another country? I’m confused by that sentence, unless you mean either that you are an international student or that the community service took place in another country…

@Francis
Yeah I’m aware of that. But first things first, I have to get in then worry about the financial situation. Also my intended major is Econ and the school would be the College for Arts and Sciences.
Also we hold fundraiser in the form of events and raise money from those. With the money raised we send it to organization head in that country and there they use it to better the place with doctors, food, and education
