Currently a sophomore in high school and soon will be a junior and super scared I am not going to get into anything.

Earth science regents grade:55 {will have to go to summer school for it. Will colleges know that I went to summer school for this one class because its not that I didn’t put the effort but the teacher is kind of a hard ass and will take 10 points off if your even late and come without a pass and words all of her questions on tests wired which confuse me and I end up failing them no matter how many hours I study them and tests are 50% of the class grade}

What are my chance into getting into colleges in New York state . I was hoping you could give me insight based on my class and grades what are my chance into getting into schools like Hunter college,Macaulay honors program at city college of new york,City college of New York, University of Albany,and SUNY poly colleges of Nano scale science and engineering
good luck… The University of Albany could be a low reach school for you, although you would need to do decently well in the SATs and ACTs. Your GPA is not looking great, so bring it up to at least a 3.3 for a decent shot at admissions. Your grades aren’t enough to come up with a decent evaluation though, it would be more helpful if you could add any extracurriculars and awards/achievements. I’m a sophomore as well, and there is some time for you to show a strong upward trend. In addition, I would recommend taking some more difficult classes next year, at least two honors classes.

You still have a full year of high school (that is, before applying to college) to bring your GPA up and show your academic potential. Next year take a serious life commitment to getting great grades in all of your classes, you will thank yourself later. It is hard to chance you for any of those schools though, considering you haven’t completed junior year yet.

Thanks for your comments they are really helpful and I guess I forgot to add in my extracurriculars so maybe that might help in letting me know what I might get into and next year I plan on getting a 4.0 or 3.5 GPA because I know if I put in the effort I can get that high GPA. If I get a 4.0 GPA next year do you think that will significantly increase my GPA even though soft more year I had a really low GPA?
Sports: Tennis this year and next year totaling up two 2 years of tennis by the time I start applying. And I’m also planning on playing football next year as well and/or soccer so that will be one year and do you think colleges will be scared if I play football because I am very feminine but I like challenges and really like the sport for football and I am hoping for an athletic scholarship but I don’t think they will give me one for football because I am a girl?
Other activities:Two years of mock trial so when I do it again next year It will be 3 years of doing mock trial.
I am also going to be a part of student council next year and be class president senior year. I am also working on my book about social issues in the world. Its a realistic fiction book about a north Korean woman and her hard life in north Korea. I am also going to be doing National high school model united nations competitions.
Can someone please answer the questions in my reply I’m seriously worried and need some insight.
