Hey guys, I'd like an idea of where I stand in applying to college if my high school career goes as I plan it to.
This is just what I project, I'm only a sophmore right now.

For one, the high school I go to is recognized for outstanding academics, and I live in the state of Michigan. I'm not sure if or how this affects my chances of getting into U of M, but I'm just putting that all out there.

~Academics~
GPA: 3.8-3.85 (out of 4.0)
SAT: ~2050
ACT: 30
AP courses: U.S. Government, Calculus, English, Art

~Extracurriculars~
4 years Hockey
4 years Baseball
3 years Football
Christian Service Team
NHS
Student Senate President
Inscape Magazine

Jobs: Work for car-rack packaging company 30 hrs/week in summer

For the college application process, I'm expecting my essay to be pretty solid, as well as my teacher's letter of recomendation.

I'm sure I won't achieve every one of these, but I'd just like to know my chances of getting into Michigan if I am able to achieve most of them.

Also, if my chances are slim, any other college recomendations???

Yeah, I’ll assume white male? In-state makes you competitive. (just as competitive as anybody else anyway)

Just make sure you test at what you’re predicting you’re going to test at, continue to do well in HS and pursue what you’re passionate about doing.

You might later find that you’ll socially or academically, personally fit much better at a small liberal arts school, or find a passion to go to a large out of state public?

Keep your mind open to new ideas and opportunities.

Good chance but like everyone has said Mich has been weird this year. Some people with the best stats in my school got deferred and people with lower stats got in.

I was planning on majoring in math, I’ve taken the ACT as a freshman and I got a 28 in math so as a late junior I assume that because I know more I could get somewhere around 33 or so. Do schools take into account the specific strengths a student has? like if im planning on majoring in math would they take my math test score into consideration of increasing my chance of acceptance?

Yes. If you have a good math score and bad english scores, and if you wanna major in Math, the colleges would take into consideration that you are atleast good at what you want to do. And thus, that should help your chances. Regardless, I think a 32 in your ACT would set the deal for you. If it’s not possible, it’s still worth a try.

there’s a department of math at michigan isn’t there? honestly I get a little confused when it comes to all the majors and what that is all about haha.

You’re way too early to be considering this, but I guess it’s nice to always have a head start. But be warned, this will be on your mind until senior year Source: Personal Experience

I’m assuming you’re from one of the schools in the area by your description (Saline, Pioneer, Huron, Skyline, Novi, IA, Etc), and it’s true, you do get looked at more highly. You should strive to take more AP’s (or more honors, they still get looked at highly by the admissions), as 4 isn’t “that” high as it once was. I’m taking this from personal experience, where 50+ people from my high school took 5 or more throughout their whole high school experience. Try to volunteer, it looks better than simply working and trying to make a few bucks to buy stuff. And if you do volunteer, try to volunteer at one of the Michigan places (ex:Hospital), as it’s pretty cool to get a feel of the school early on and have your own M-Card while still in high school (you go in their databases nudgenudge). Keep it up and you’ll get in.
