oh and top 25% class rank, nationally accredited high school

Are you kidding? Do you honestly think you won’t get in?

well I didn’t get into college park…

how can there be that much of a difference in your u/w and w gpa? That’s probably the biggest issue…

Where you applying for chemical engineering or nursing? If so, this might explain it along with the UW GPA. These are the two most competitive majors at UD to gain admission.

Jstersh:
oops-I read your last post incorrectly-I see now that you were not accepted into UM-College Park. Sorry about that. Still, your UW GPA might be an issue if you are applying for chemical engineering or nursing at UD. Best of luck to you.

weighted is out of 6 and unweighted is out of 4. and no I’m applying for political science. but I still dint understand why I didn’t get into Maryland and that’s why im worried about Delaware, should I be?

I know someone who got in to Delaware with a 3.0 and lower SATs, but they had stellar recommendations and essays and are in state.

Competition for OOS students at UD has become increasingly more intense as the academic reputation of UD has been steadily increasing and the number of OOS applicants has significantly increased as well. I don’t know about Maryland but UD puts a higher emphasis on rigor/grades as compared to SAT scores (unlike many schools who just look almost entirely at SAT scores in order to inflate their own stats to increase the “prestige” of the college). If you look at UD’s admission website they indicate that rigor/grades are “very important” in admission decisions with standardized tests scores being listed as “important”. I suspect relative deficiencies in one area can be compensated for by very high achievement in the other area but to what degree I have no idea. Based on what I’ve seen over the last 4 years it appears that for OOS students UD utilizes SAT scores to a greater degree in evaluating students for the honors program and determining merit scholarship awards. Unfortunately your 3.1/4.0 (UW) and 4.5/6.0 (W) GPAs might be a little below (or low average) compared to many other OOS applicants. Certainly these stats are not prohibitively bad. Obviously your SAT scores are excellant. With all this being said it would be my perspective, as you have applied as a political science major, that your chances for admission are probably at least good if not better. Best of luck to you.

thanks for the feedback man
