Included that I was gay, autistic brother, validations for bad grades etc.
My common app essay is a 9/10 (talked about my identity as a team player and their vital role to uniting groups)

Applying to:
Columbia (don’t chance me here, it’s the same as everyone else)
Georgetown
Wash U
U SoCal
Ohio State (Honors)
DePaul
Vermont

Also I will respond to anyone who chances my profile!

Pretty much in at OSU, DePaul, and Vermont

Columbia might be difficult

Georgetown, USC and Wash U you have a shot

I think you will definitely gain admission into OSU honors because you have way above average stats compared to the average applicant to that school. Don’t fret, it’s a safety in your case.

Now don’t be too afraid with USC, Wash U, and Georgetown. It’s all about distinguishing yourself with the essays, especially since you are one of those people who definitely qualify academically, no problem. It’s awesome that you are captain of XC because run is fun lol. I mean you obviously show leadership and commitment throughout your application. It’s just a matter of using these things that you have done to tell colleges about who you are. We know that you have accomplished A,B, and C. So you do not necessarily need to tell us that you did this or that, unless you intend to do so in a way thanks clever and will reveal more about you.

@PolyglotGal thank you! it’s actually ironic considering I hate running haha. but I mean that’s what I’ve been going for throughout all my essays and such. but thanks!

I’m not too familiar with some of these schools but you asked me nicely so I’ll try

Obviously your SAT math is perfect, so if you’re planning on majoring in STEM, that looks really great. I can’t really see you getting rejected from any of those schools except for Columbia, and maybe Georgetown depending on just how bad those SAT IIs are. Sorry I can’t be more helpful haha, good luck

I don’t know a lot of the schools, but I think you’re great for OSU but might have some trouble making yourself stand out at Columbia. EC-wise everything is pretty strong (tbh test scores/gpa are weakish FOR COLUMBIA they’re still nice) but not much that like reeaaly stands out y’know. Still have a chance though!

please don’t trust me too well i am but a teen

Thanks! yeah I realized Columbia was a long shot and I’m being rational about my chances of admission to there. It’s still at the top of my list but that’s what I have the schools like Georgetown and USC

I think you have a really good shot at all of your schools except Columbia. If you write really good essays, you might have a chance at getting in though!
USC can be a reach for almost everyone, but I really do think you’ll get in here. Your stats are well in USC’s averages, and your extracurriculars will set you even higher.
Good luck!

The fact that you are part Latino will boost your admission chances. So, you have that going for you.

Columbia: Idk, hard to chance
Georgetown, Wash U, USoCal: Possible with an outstanding essay. You have a good chance
Ohio State (Honors): Yes
DePaul: Yes
Vermont: Yes

I basically repeated what the other guys above me. Sorry, not much feedback I can give :frowning:
But excellent EC’s, test scores and awards

Super solid profile.
Could definitely see you getting into nearly all of the colleges on your list considering you fit the general criteria and your ECs are good.
Columbia’s a general reach for everyone and there’s no need for me to elaborate on that.
Georgetown/WashU/USoCal could go either way for you .
Ohio State, DePaul, & Vermont are definite safeties.

thanks! @turquoisedonut @GeorgiaGuy123 @collegequartz

I think you have a fair shot at all of the schools. Like others said, OSU, Vermont, and DePaul should be for sure. I think that out of Wash U, USC, and Georgetown you will get into at least one of them.

@collegelyfelolol
Columbia (don’t chance me here, it’s the same as everyone else): I’m going to attempt to chance you here. I would say based on your gpa and test scores you have a 10%-12% which is higher than the mean. Definitely a reach.
Georgetown: You basically have a mean chance here of 16%, so Reach.
Wash U:Similar to Georgetown 16% chance. Reach.
U SoCal: Good chance based on gpa and test score +50%. Match.
Ohio State (Honors): High Match/safety.
DePaul: Safety
Vermont: Safety

bump- also just got admitted to Vermont! first one haha

Your URM hook could help you a lot as will coming from a T100 school with a good GPA. EC’s are good and well rounded but nothing AMAZINGLY PHENOMENAL ( still good tho! ). I think you solid shot almost everywhere you’re applying except Columbia. Really make sure your essays kick ass

Georgetown - Mid Reach
Wash U - Mid Reach
U SoCal - High Match/Low Reach ( USC has actually gotten hella difficult recently and can be really unpredictable )
Ohio State (Honors) - Match
DePaul - Safety
Vermont - Already acccepted

chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/18947339/#Comment_18947339

UPDATE: admitted to Ohio State yesterday!

You have incredibly strong ECs which show that you’re very well-rounded. You’re stats are also pretty good. I think you have a great chance at all your schools (though columbia might be a reach, but it is for everyone). I would say that the most important tie-breaker would be your essays. Good luck!

bump!

I think you have a very strong chance at your matches and safeties. As for your reaches, you are definitely a force to be reckoned with, but as everyone knows, sometimes we have to leave that up to luck… Sincerely wishing you the best of luck!
