probably get deferred to regular decision

About one month ago, we posted some information from the Class of 2011 thread covering acceptances (honors/regular decision) and waitlist data taken from this site. This information is reproduced below.

Your three part SAT (2020) was exactly the score mentioned regarding waitlisting. You will likely get deferred to the regular decision pool ALTHOUGH .... your Apalachian service project in Tennessee is very interesting and a program in which BC itself is involved.

"Elite" High School means nothing in this context and a class size of 47 makes it tough to draw conclusions from your grades. Your AP scores, although all credit worthy, seem centered in the 4 range. "Elite" performance does not usually yield scores of 4.

After last year's Ivy League application debacle, it will be interesting to see if MORE students apply to the next set of schools, including BC, on an early action/decision basis. In fact, this could also make the BC early program tougher. Expect upwards of last year's nearly 30,000 applications for 2,250 spots in the freshman class.

All of this said, best of luck.

Posted these stats from the Class of 2011 discussion in another thread:

Accepted Honors, SAT/ACT Scores : 2290/33 (Honors), 2200 (Honors), 2210 (Honors), 2290/34 (Honors)

Accepted, SAT/ACT Scores : 1910, 2010, 34, 2180, 33, 2230/33, 2190/32, 1900, 2110, 2310/34, 2060, 2090, 2120, 1900, 2180

Waitlisted, SAT/ACT Scores : 2030, 2040/31, 2090, 2010, 1930, 2260, 1990, 2060, 1710, 27, 2070, 1990

From these scores, the average accepted application was around 2090 and waitlisted application was around 2020. If you remove the one 1710 score from the waitlist, the average is around 2050. You can see that BC is really looking for that 2100 mark and the 2050-2100 range is really where your essay and other application qualifications can make a big difference.

True, but I don't think it's fair to draw conclusions from a handful of people on CC. BC themselves has said that their avg. admitted freshmen have an avg. SAT of 2020. Remember, CCers tend to be "above the curve" in most or all categories (scores, essays, ECs, etc.). Still, interesting data, thanks for posting it.

You would probably get defer to regular decision. But a word of caution: compact. Don't ever send more than one page worth of resume material unless you have a lot of incredible things. They won't bother look at it--either out of sheer exhaustion or annoyance--and this is not just not BC alone, many colleges don't like 3-page resume that says nothing. Make your resume compact, tight, and still carries what you want it to carry. I don't know if you plan to list all of the posted, but I don't see anything worthwhile enough to make it so dam long.

I agree with Reddune: if you are just going to list, pick a few things. OR, pick 5-6 things in leadership, volunteer, etc, and spend a FEW (like 2-3) sentences explaining them. Don't get too wordy.
