-British Columbia

hey! thanks for your comment (:
you’ve got good stats and numbers, very impressive ec’s but maybe diversify a little bit more. it seems very concentrated on sports and physical stuff. what else are you interested in? science, student government, etc. would look good too.
anyways, being nigerian is definitely a pro for you, especially with your accomplishments. however, being an international student might complicate things?

i wish you all the best! wouldn’t it be cool if we ended up at the same school? ha! (:

oh, sorry if I wasn’t clear: you’ve got a great chance at those US schools fosho.

Haha ok thanks bud. Anyone else?

Why do you keep on re-posting?

Like you’ve been told a million times before, your stats are solid (assuming that you actually get a 2250), but being an international throws everything in the air; your chances will depend on who else from Canada is applying to the same schools as you.

Bump 10char.

More chances please?

Academics are good for a man of color. EC’s are lacking. URM Hook may be negated by the fact that you are an international applicant. Get into all or get into none.

A couple things…

 1. You’re NOT a URM. You’re african-canadian NOT african-american. You’re an international. Period.
 2. First generation college in North America? Is that supposed to be some sort of hook?..Yea, just NO to that one as well.
 3. Your stats are good. But you’re international. It’s a different animal all together. You might get into a couple. You probably will. But, they (unless HYP) won’t give you money. Just give it a try. AND stop bumping your multiple chance threads lol.

Best of luck.

^Agreed, but I’m not sure that there is mutual exclusivity between being a URM and an international. From what I understand, racial quotas are racial quotas; they can be filled by people from any country, similar to the way an student from Nigeria counts as being black, a student from India asian, etc.

@eak325. How are my ECs lacking, just wondering? And by get into all or get into none, do you seriously mean that if I don’t get into one of these schools I won’t get into any.

@DJAmazon African-Canadians are considered URMs actually, it’s still diversifying the black population at the school (espescially considering I would still be checking the black/african-american box like anyone from the USA would).

I just like getting chanced, sorry if you don’t appreciate it. It makes me feel a little more comfortable about arguably the most stressful thing in my life to this point.

If you haven’t noticed, ever since your initial chance thread, the quality of advice that you have been receiving is becoming exponentially worse. The people on this forum will get frustrated and/or annoyed when someone repeatedly makes Chance threads yet systematically disregards and argues with all the opinions he recieves.

Nosike, I think what they are trying to tell you is that there is no way to know. Your stats are definitely good enough to apply. But, after that, no one knows. It wouldn’t be surprising if you got in, but it also wouldn’t be surprising if you didn’t. You need to expend all of your energy now writing the best essays that you have ever written. Also, you need to make sure that the teachers and counselor writing your letter of recommendations absolutely ADORE you.

@billabong I’m not sure how I’m arguing with all the opinions I receive, please enlighten me. I’m also not sure who appointed you head of the Chances threads. As far as I’m concerned I’m free to ask for chances whenever and however I want seeing as there are no explicitly stated rules preventing this.

If it bothers you so much that I keep chancing, stop posting in my chance threads, thank you very much.

Nosike, he means that he’s a little annoyed you’ve asked for chances around a dozen times, looking at your past threads. That’s excessive. Are you here to ■■■■■ or get an ego-boost?
You should be happy enough with people telling you your chances are decent. Do you want to hear us say that you’ll definitely get in, no doubt?

Nosike, why don’t you actually read through one of the multitude of chances threads that you’ve posted and you will see EXACTLY about what is the arguing that Billabongboy9828 is talking about. Seriously.

No thanks.

Good to see a fellow Nigerian teen reaching high. Im not quite top 20 material like u though; more like top 25-50. Your chances are good. You should get into at least one of those

Thanks FutureVpFinance

You’re in IB which is a huge plus. Your SAT is pretty solid, and your GPA is right around the average of enrolled freshman. I would say you’ve got a good shot at a few schools, here is my speculation:

Duke ED- decent chance
Harvard- huge reach
Yale- big reach
stanford-big reach
columbia- big reach
cornell- decent chance
Chicago- decent chance
Johns Hopkins- decent chance
WSL- decent chance

Mcgill- in
Queens- in
I haven’t head of the others
