Chance me please!!! ED to Columbia University (I will chance back!)

First off, hello everyone! First time poster here!
SO, I REALLY wanted to know what other people think of my chances of getting into Columbia were if I applied ED. Columbia's always been a dream of mine and I want to know how others view me. Also, I'm only a rising junior so some of this stuff is bound to change.

I go to an extreeeeemly competitive high school (top 4 of the US,) that is known by most prestigious universities.
GPA: 4.2 Weighted (My school only does weighted)
ACT: 34 (I am retaking)
My school doesn't rank
APs(I've only taken one test so far but here is whats on my schedule): World History (3, I decided to take the test even though I didn't take the class, which was a HUGE mistake) Art History, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, US history, Psychology, Spanish Language, Spanish Literature, Calculus
My course load so far (in my opinion) has been very rigorous. Not the hardest course load in the entire school, but still pretty tough.
Awards: National Spanish Exam medal, MAAAAANY public speaking awards, several acting awards

Extracurriculars
Spanish Honor Society (member, but maybe a officer next year)
Gay- Straight Alliance (Publicist)
Model UN (member)
Shakespeare Troupe (Officer)
Drama board (Officer)
Hispanic Alliance (member)
Young Democrats(member)
Varsity Lacrosse (player)
Arabic Horizons (member)

I also started my very own charity for the Dominican Republic (which I visit frequently.) We hold collection drives and donation banks to raise money, supplies, and awareness.

Job/work experience:
I volunteer for the Democratic election campaigns most of my free time in the summer.
I do charity work in the Dominican Republic every summer (and have done for the past three summers)
2 out of the 4 summers of high school I have helped out at this elementary school in a particularly under privileged area.

My intended major would be International Relations.
I am a Latino Male.
My family is well off so little or no financial aid is expected.
My Dad and Uncle both went to Columbia, so I have legacy.

Hooks: I speak, English, Spanish, Swedish, Arabic (the last two I taught myself)

Please be truthful! I really want to know my odds.

Thanks

I think you have a good chance as long as you do well on the essay.

You are very impressive sir :). I love the fact that you won many public speaking awards. It shows commitment! I feel that you have a very good chance of getting into columbia (and I wouldn’t be surprised if you did  )
Chance me back?

If you are near fluent in all four languages and do well on the ACT and courses this year AND have a great essay you are in at Columbia. With the languages you will be fantastic at international relations! Congrats!

Do you go to a public school or
Private? Your list of AP classes seems a little skimpy. Please explain why you didn’t take more.

What is your connection to Sweden? What drove you to learn this language?

All in all you stand a great chance of being admitted ED.

@sgopal2 My school is a public school, but it is a magnet school, meaning I had to test in. As for the APs, 9 is the most I can physically take, and the most my schedule allowed. And for Swedish, I am a part Swedish (along with Hispanic) and I just love the culture and language. I have a huge passion for learning new languages and Swedish is just very fun to study.

Also thanks to everyone who’s commented so far! Lets keep em coming!

Wow, what a sensational resumé! You seem to have a great chance, even with a 34 and a “skimpy” AP list (it probably won’t matter considering you seem to be primed for your major. Best of luck!!

Great story. I think you have a great shot. Talk about the ethnic connection to Sweden and latino and you should be in good shape. Please have your GC explain why you didn’t take more AP classes in his/her letter, otherwise it may seem to the AdCom that you skipped some harder classes on purpose.

Taking the ACT again would be a waste of time and energy. You have a great chance at ED since you have a great application along with legacy. Write good essays and you will surely get in.
Instead of retaking the ACT, focus more on the essays as they are much more important.

Best of luck!

Wow. Good stuff going on. GPA is high, ACT is in a good range, ECs are plentiful, awards are also plentiful. I think you will most likely get into Columbia considering your legacy. However, I don’t see any SAT IIs. You know they could add a very handsome bonus if you do well on a test of your academic interest. Other than that, work on those essays!
